How busy will I be over Thanksgiving?

Post by VY10 » Fri Sep 30, 2011 12:17 am

Hi all-

1L here. I'm wondering how busy I will be over Thanksgiving break. I realize I'll be studying my ass off for the majority of the day, but I'm asking because my girl friend is wanting to visit during this time. Is it worth her visiting, or will I be too consumed with school and overloaded with stress that it wouldn't be worth it? What does your typical schedule look like during crunch time? 8-6 every day, or is it more intense than that? Finals begin December 8. What are your thoughts?

1. Study for 6-8 hours a day.
2. Screw gf's brains out for 6-8 hours a day.
3. ???
4. Profit.

You will probably want to kill yourself during Thanksgiving. Super high stress time.

sort of credited for me: I did well at T25 school (top 15 percent) so your goals may be higher or lower BUT I think if you're doing your shit right, study 8 hours a day and rest. Finals itself is a marathon and I found that some of the people who were studying 22 hours a day during thanksgiving were too burned out to even make it to there last exam.

If your gf is the kind that can understand where you're at and can leave you alone for 7-8 hours to really get your shit together then I say have her come. She'll probably be helpful in keeping your mind on something else for a while too. Generally, I found Thanksgiving to be a good time to recharged before one last surge before exams.

Lol you ask like it's not up to you. FWIW I only did a few hours' work over the break and did fine fall semester. It's a holiday dammit.

I didn't study at all over Thanksgiving break last year. Literally. Not at all.

Was top-third first semester (which i mean.. isn't amazing but i'm also not that great at the whole law school thing i don't think). Wasn't top-third second semester when I didn't get a Thanksgiving break. so.

do whatever the fuck you want. spend a little extra time preparing before the break, then chill the fuck out and have a good time with your girlfriend.

I stayed at school and studied for all of TG break. With that said, I was also neurotic during 1L.

What you think will happen: Study 6-8 hours a day and hopefully finish up outlines.

What will actually happen: Feel burned out to exhaustion. Not study at all. Watch football and sleep 10 hours a day.
