Take a medical leave, get better and return to school.
Wait, did you do oci? What about next summer?
Also - make a poll, it might help you get a consensus.

I cant even imagine a bad case of mono in law school. I had it in college and just stayed in my room for 1 month.
How bad is it ?

I got it in undergrad, but I just used it as an excuse to not go to class. The only thing that sucked about it was the sore throat. That shit would not go away.
So no.

It affects everyone differently. I missed six weeks of senior year of HS.
Got straight A+s that semester too though because I did nothing but study. Maybe you could do the same?

I had mono in UG that was so bad I could hardly sit up--I couldn't take care of myself. If you have it bad enough that you can't walk around, you should strongly consider a leave of absence.nealric wrote:Seriously?

Re: Mono: take leave of absence?
It just depends on how bad of a strain you catch.
I had the nasty stuff and was down for over 2 months. Can you actually chew and swallow? I couldn't eat my throat was so swollen.
If you are functioning eating, walking, coherent, and rational consider asking to do class stuff at home. If you are having difficulty staying awake, swallowing normal food, walking, then pass on this semester or you'll tank it.
How much of a in class person are you? If you only really start studying around finals, then moot point. You'll be better by then.

1L here, it really depends on how bad of a case of mono you get. I got it around a high stress time in my life and it got worse and worse because I ignored it. I eventually ended up the hospital. If you don't take a semester off try to take it easy.

Re: Mono: take leave of absence?
Like several others have said, it totally depends on the severity. I had it in high school and only missed two full weeks of class, plus another week of half-days (and several months of limitations in PE/weight training class). I was really goddamn sick for those two weeks, though: lost almost 15% of my body weight because I couldn't swallow anything, slept 18+ hours a day, and ended up in the ER once because my blood pressure was so low from dehydration. Any significant studying was pretty much out of the question. Fortunately, high school was easy and I caught up with minimal effort. I suspect law school would be a different beast.

check if your school will allow someone to record lectures for you while you are sick. If you can get recordings and are well enough to function somewhat, I cant imagine your absence would have too severe of an impact.
