Re: Should I finish my master's thesis?
Well, you have to account for what you've been doing these past two years on your resume, right? So, can you still list this masters as not as masters (if you don't do the thesis), or are you planning on having a gap in your resume?

Does it qualify you to take the patent bar? If yes, then definately find a way to do it. If not, I would still find a way to complete it.

Well, I have a bachelors in bio too, so I already qualify for the patent bar. But I hear you on still finding a way to complete it anywayDman wrote:Does it qualify you to take the patent bar? If yes, then definately find a way to do it. If not, I would still find a way to complete it.

I suppose I would list the certificate instead, though I would always have to explain what that entailed. And I've also been interning full time at a foreign intellectual property office for the past year (another reason why the thesis was delayed).cinephile wrote:Well, you have to account for what you've been doing these past two years on your resume, right? I guess there isn't a good argument for backing out at this point. SIGH.

A BS in bio isn't gonna help you land any patent prosecution jobs. A MS could make firms consider you, although PhD is strongly preferred. If you're interested in some other area of law, a BS is fine. A MS could give you a slight bump in areas such as IP licensing and patent lit, since having technical knowledge is valued in those fields.
I would go ahead and finish off the MS since you've already come so far.
