Now, I know exactly why that would be an undesirable position to be in.
However, if that DOES happen, I don't believe anything bad will happen to the person.
I might be horribly mistaken, but I don't think summer employment during one's law school career is REQUIRED for bar examination or graduation purposes.
I realize not being able to secure a 2L job of any type means you will most likely be unemployed after you graduate. But besides that, there isn't anything else, right?

Yup. Sort of how you date someone for three years, never get laid, get married, and still don't get laid. Other than that, there isn't really anything else.

If you can't land a job, get a clinic position, donate your time somewhere, yeesh something. There is no reason to have nothing there. Just hit the ground running and you'll do great.
