Professor absent for 1/3rd of the classes?
Our Professor for our (condensed) summer class which only consists of twelve total classes, will have missed a total four classes. Granted there have been substitute professors teaching the material however, I feel as though it is increasingly difficult to ascertain the (grading) professors expectations through substitute professors. I'm very frustrated along with other classmates about these circumstances. Any suggestions on a course of action, or should we just shut up and deal with it?

Tell the school you want a tuition refund/credit toward next semester.

Sheesh that sucks. What kind of a final are we talking about here? Essay? Multiple choice? Matching? If you are all on the same curve, it doesn't really matter (unless some of the students in the class already had the primary professor once before)...

Re: Professor absent for 1/3rd of the classes?
Final will mainly consist of Essay's and possibly some MBE's.
My only concern with us ALL being on a level playing field is that there were no pre-requisites for this class and as a result there are 3 2, and 1L's in the course. Presumably, the more experienced students will have a better chance at dealing with the unknown(s) than the less experienced pups like myself an others.

My contracts prof missed 9/29 classes, but there was never a makeup for any of them. Another 4 or so classes were "voluntary office hours." Basically, it was a "teach yourself contracts" class. The class itself was a breach of K.

I missed about 1/2 my classes, maybe I should ask for a partial refund

How'd you do that? You can only miss 6 before ABA give 0 credit.Borhas wrote:I missed about 1/2 my classes, maybe I should ask for a partial refund

Re: Professor absent for 1/3rd of the classes?
I talked to the administration and it's under review. The fact that the professor didn't mention she would be gone for such a long period of time prior to the last available drop date is a factor. However, I took my mid-term yesterday and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought, so even if I stay in the class it's a winnable situation for the most part.
It works out to around $440 per class session, so I really don't appreciate my time and money being wasted!

I'm pretty sure I'd get CLR, Torts, Civ Pro, IP, and MAYBE property. K's, Con Law, Islamic law and Crim would be pwnd. I really don't think I went to Crim 6 times.IAFG wrote:lololol DF has earned 0 credits during 1L according to the ABA then...shepdawg wrote:How'd you do that? Yep, that's the beauty of the law school curve. It's all relative. Just study previous exams if the prof makes those available.traehekat wrote:deal with it, imo, you're all in the same boat.
Please, it's not like you really go to law school to learn the law. Now if this were an absentee barbri instructor, I'd be pissed.Borhas wrote:seatown12 wrote:Tell the school you want a tuition refund/credit toward next semester.

I remember this saying from one of my martial arts classes, "don't fuck with the person that can fuck you up outside the dojo." It's better to suck up to someone that's more powerful & authoritative than you 'cause they will fuck you up one way or another.

This "affects everyone equally" thing is bogus. On average, more randomness hurts good students and helps bad students.danquayle wrote:Yep, that's the beauty of the law school curve.
