Weird editing symbols in the MPEP

Post by omnomnom » Wed Jun 01, 2011 11:49 am

I'm doing the PLI Patent Bar prep course at home right now, and I downloaded a pdf of the MPEP from the USPTO website. The problem is that the MPEP is littered with weird editing symbols, such as **> and < . I guess they're there to tell the reader what has changed from prior versions of the MPEP, but they're really distracting. Does anyone know where I can download a copy of the MPEP that doesn't have these symbols? Or can someone at least point me to a reference/table that defines them? I know it's totally unimportant but I feel like it would calm my OCD somewhat.
