I hate that shit. It's a silly, contrived tradition that's degrading to everyone involved.

I'm a big fan of the standing ovation at the end of the semester, but we never got our profs any gifts...

This thread has just blown my mind. People actually give standing ovations to professors? Like in The Paper Chase? And then we're expected to give them gifts while we suffer under massive student loan debt, of which their inflated salaries are a major contributing factor?
I just... I just don't know anymore. I need a drink.

even better was when we were challenged last year as a student body to match the faculty in giving to charity
i considered replying and asking how we could get handouts from said charity

How come there is no one on TLS who loves LRW. There must be someone who is getting A's and setting the curve in LRW.Desert Fox wrote:I just hate LWR with that much passion.traehekat wrote:hahaha holy shitDesert Fox wrote:People want me chip in for a gift to my LRW. I like my LRW (or its equivalent)... but it wasn't graded. Graded LRW is pure evil.

I love LRW, and i love that its graded and 2 credits (wish it was more). I personally feel its the class you have the most control over your grade.

Checking and rechecking each and every word of your brief while spending hours on mindless formatting to gain maximum points over your classmates isn't having control over LRW - that's LRW having control over you.phonepro wrote:I love LRW, and i love that its graded and 2 credits (wish it was more). Re: What is thing with getting Prof's gifts???
i had a very different experience with lrw than most people here, it seems.
not much time/effort. pretty good grade. never needed to pore over every word in an assignment or rewrite drafts or anything like that.
but i'm pretty damn mediocre at almost everything else here so who knows.
