E-mailing a professor from another school.

Post by LSHPFL10 » Mon Apr 11, 2011 2:16 pm

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate forum for this question, so I'll try to keep it quick.

Basically, if I'm lucky enough to make law review, I'd like to write about a topic in a niche field for which there is a professor at another law school considered to be quite experienced in the field. I'd really like to shoot this professor an e-mail asking about any hot-button topics in the field that would be good to write about, but I'm not sure if it is appropriate to e-mail a professor from another school regarding something along these lines.

Any input would be appreciated.

I can't see how it would be inappropriate. I would do it. You're going to a leading expert in the field, like anyone writing about that topic would.

I agree that it's not inappropriate by any means. Just make sure to use your school email account rather than a personal account to avoid the spam folder and establish credibility.
