Today, U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer called out the American Bar Association and asked the ABA to require law schools to provide accurate post-graduate employment and salary information about their former students. And so now the movement to get law schools to engage in some basic transparency about the value of a legal education just got some political muscle.
Your thoughts?

This is just more of the liberal regulation that's strangling our country and preventing an economic recovery.

It was deregulation that got us here and now lets deregulate ourselves into the next great depression!

NPR reported a study by an economist that concluded that regulation is good for the economy overall in that it makes jobs for people. It spreads the wealth. However, it is bad for big business in that it lowers corporate profits. That is why douchers (aka Republicans) campaign against it.
WTG, Sen. Boxer for calling out the law schools.

That's ridiculous. If the government required painting, it would also employ a lot of people, but the government has an implied mandate to be reasonable.

Sure, but would requiring someone you're paying tens of thousands of dollars to provide accurate information about their product be unreasonable?

I was referring specifically to the post that I quoted, about regulation creating jobs.

I think this is is great news for potential law students and can only be good for schools and the profession in the long run. That being said, at this stage in the game the problem with law schools reporting salary info is minuscule compared to challenges facing this country that the Senate should be focused on.
