Supplements for the following torts/con law casebooks
For con law the casebook is Leading Cases in Constitutional Law, Choper, Fallon, Kamisar & Shiffrin
For torts were assigned 2 books:
1. M.A. Franklin, R.L. Rabin, & M.D. Green, Tort Law and Alternatives (2006)
2. J.L. Diamond, L.C. Levine, & A. Bernstein, Understanding Torts (2010)
Any suggestions for civ pro even though we haven't been assigned our casebook.

Unless your torts teacher smokes crack, the torts E&E. Same for Civ Pro (but if you get the Freer book, his hornbook is win).

What about a thirty-four page CV suggests your prof doesn't smoke crack?chicoalto0649 wrote:naw shes not a doper. her CV is 34 pages longbeach_terror wrote:Unless your torts teacher smokes crack, the torts E&E. Same for Civ Pro (but if you get the Freer book, his hornbook is win).

the Chemerinsky treatise is accepted as the best con law supplement. I've heard Emanuels is good also.

I had the same casebook for torts first semester. Get the torts E&E for sure. That and Understanding Torts should get you through. Start working on the E&E early and revisit the sections often.

Just to help a little, the Gilbert's for Torts was written by the same authors as the Torts book you're using. Sort of.
The main author of the Gilbert's is Cardi, and Green doesn't really do much for the book because he spends his time on the textbook and the Restatements, among other things. But Cardi is a former pupil of Green, and they are best friends.
I used the E & E, for what it's worth, but just because I don't particularly like the style of the Gilbert's book. Also, Green was my prof. So if you are looking for a little closer insight into how the authors think, you may consider Gilbert's.
(just in case you're wondering, Franklin was the original author of both which is why he keeps his name first)

Agreed. I had Cardi and though that Gilbert's was pretty good. Didn't particularly care for some aspects of the book, but it was pretty effective overall. I liked it significantly more than the E&E FWIW. I thought the E&E spent too much time rambling and not enough time explaining things succinctly, but that's just my personal opinion.placencia wrote:Just to help a little, the Gilbert's for Torts was written by the same authors as the Torts book you're using.
