Day before a final
What are you doing study wise? Shoring up on specific areas that are weak, or trying to get a comprehensive view of the course as a whole. Or something else?

Re: Day before a final
Reviewing my outline, writing out a couple of practice problems, and then calling it quits at 5. Chilling out, having a nice dinner, and going to bed early.

I'm talking through my whole outline out loud, maybe do some light practice problems. End any work at 7 pm. Bed at 9 pm.

Reviewing outline right now- looking over the structure of the practice exams I have for my prof-- that I already did, reviewing some cases (mult. choice) and heading home at 7pm, good dinner- some yoga-and bed.

Reading through the outline. Review anywhere where knowledge is spotty. If I do a practice problem, it isn't a full write- just an outline.

Nothing. I've done really well on the last 3 practice tests I've done, so I'm just resting up. Maybe I'll read over my outline tonight but I'm trying to be as low key as possible. Experience tells me that nothing I learn between now and tomorrow morning will really affect my grade.

Re: Day before a final
I didn't even realize my fed jur final was tomorrow until last night (I had the date written down wrong).
Needless to say, I am about to discover just how true my law-school-long "ehh, I only need to study for a day" mindset is.
Epic fail incoming.
Edit: Or epic win, depending on how it goes. If I get median or better on this thing, I'm going to lol, because I haven't read for the class for a month, and I'm just making my outline directly from the E&E. Ahhh 3L.

Make a condensed outline - just the major headings and a few keywords to get the blood flowing to the brain. Probably outline a few answers to old exams but not really getting super indepth - just shoring up issue spotting.

Re: Day before a final
On the day before my first final, I took a practice test in the morning, and really started to wind it up by dinner time. I made a few sidenotes to my outlines for issues I thought were big (and ended up not even being a part of the exam), skimmed over my issue-spotter/concept sheet, and got my materials all set and ready.

Remembering that even after a year and a half of doing this, I still don't know how to do this. Then chilling, because my grades have come back more or less randomly for every class so far.

No, I'm serious, if it wasn't for kind of pretending to still shooting at honors (and my panic re "consistent performance" in my offer letter from my firm,) I would probably show up to the exam drunk.prezidentv8 wrote:lulzToTransferOrNot wrote:but.. but... honors!vanwinkle wrote:FTFM.prezidentv8 wrote:Remembering that even after a year and a half of doing this, I still don't know how to do this. Well, I'm not even employed yet and probably have a decent shot at honors and I'm finding it really hard to care. Your lack of laziness/apathy is quite impressive, and I commend you.ToTransferOrNot wrote:No, I'm serious, if it wasn't for kind of pretending to still shooting at honors (and my panic re "consistent performance" in my offer letter from my firm,) I would probably show up to the exam drunk.prezidentv8 wrote:lulzToTransferOrNot wrote:

Pass = top 95-98% of class
Honors = top 30-35% of class
If I think about "will I get honors?" then I'm kind of like meh, que sera, sera, but if I think about "will I pass?" then I start to go zomg must study harder to avoid a Low Pass!!!!1111. So, I just try not to think about it at all

No, no. I think I've spent a total of 10 hours on Federal Jurisdiction outside of class this quarter all-in, including reading, studying for finals, etc.prezidentv8 wrote:Well, I'm not even employed yet and probably have a decent shot at honors and I'm finding it really hard to care. Trust me, I have the lazy. I'm just not quite far along enough to be drunk for my exams.
Depending on how the grades turn out this time around (if I get knocked down a bit such that the level of honors I'm hoping for is no longer obtainable,) I will probably just stop buying the textbooks.

As an aside, I've sort of started becoming one of those hippie types that thinks that testing/ranking/grades does not serve a useful purpose. This may be contributing to my lack of giving a flying shit.

Re: Day before a final
Oh I completely understand that part. I just can't imagine me getting employed in any job that's really going to care about precise grades at this point, unless I do really well or really badly. Hence, pointless on that level too.dailygrind wrote:purpose shmurpose. i want a damn jerb.prezidentv8 wrote:As an aside, I've sort of started becoming one of those hippie types that thinks that testing/ranking/grades does not serve a useful purpose.
