How to address a federal magistrate?
I need to email a federal magistrate for something non-court related. Using "Judge" would be a lie (wouldn't it?), but "Mr./Ms." seems to informal.
What would you do?
What would you do?

1) They're a federal magistrate judge; not just a magistrate. See 28 U.S.C. § 631.Renzo wrote:I need to email a federal magistrate for something non-court related. Using "Judge" would be a lie (wouldn't it?), but "Mr./Ms." seems to informal.

2) As they are a judge, they should be addressed as Judge.

Naw, it was supposed to be a joke, but it's not funny. My bad--doing to many things at once.G. T. L. Rev. wrote:United States Court of Appeals for the ____ Circuit. There are district judges, magistrate judges, and BK judges in the courthouse, too.Renzo wrote:G. T. L. Rev. wrote:Everyone in my courthouse refers to the magistrates as "Judge."
