So I just chilled all 0L summer. Am I screwed now?
Anyone feeling this way? A ton of people told me to just chill and enjoy the summer... now I realize I have no clue what all the law school supplements even are, or what good prep books to read and when to read them now.
Any advice? I thought I'd feel "good," and I do, but it seems like I've missed the proverbial boat already?

Screw dropping out. Killself is the only solution at this point.

It's not like 0L prep made me aware of what the best law schools supplements are for my classes. What did that was asking folks at the ASW and bugging any 2L in sight once I got here.
Just chill. Besides, if the first week of 1L is indiciative of the rest of the experience, it's become rather clear that all the nay-sayers about anything more than a light reading of GTM were probably right.

You're fine, broski. Most of us at my school have done little to no prep, and we're all just living the dream until classes start.

You mean, instead of spending a small fortune on prep classes and a library full of exam prep books that almost no one on TLS reccomended, you just enjoyed your last stress free summer ever?! I mean, how do you expect to reap the return on this investment if you're not more prepared than every single other person in your class??!! YOU ARE SOO FUCKED.

you're ahead of the game and won't burn out like the fools that studied all summer only to realize come November that it didn't help as much as they had hoped.

I've done a lot of nothing all summer too. I think I"ll be okay anyway.
That being said, I dreamed last night that I understudied for an early quiz, finished in the bottom 25% of my class, and received a letter from my school advising me to drop out now.

I'm incredibly glad, after much freaking out about 0L prep, that all I did this summer was:
Watch movies
work part time
play racquetball
read TLS posts on finishing well, honestly I think going through these a couple times is the best summer prep one can do.

Re: So I just chilled all 0L summer. Am I screwed now?
I followed the prevailing TLS wisdom, read LSC and GTM and enjoyed my free time.
After one week of classes I don't regret this at all. Of course things will get tougher soon, but I do not think I could have read material and thought it about the way we are being guided to think about it in class.
I think sometimes "thinking you understand something" is extremely dangerous, even moreso than knowing you don't get it.

Re: So I just chilled all 0L summer. Am I screwed now?
You are not screwed at all. In fact, I'd say you're set because reading law books before going to law school is pointless. I am a 3L now, doing really well, and literally the only book I read off the suggested reading list was "To Kill a Mockingbird." I had never heard of "supplements" or "E&E's" or "Getting to Maybe" or "Law School Confidential" prior to my first law school class. Do not worry. You are fine.

Just because people seem like they know what they're talking about now doesn't mean they actually do. It's what, week 1 at the most? A lot of people may have supplements now but it's not like they've gleaned all the magical mysteries of the universe from them in this one week that you missed.

No worries. Now that you're getting a better idea of what a casebook and an outline look like, just start reading the guides on how to do well in law school posted here on TLS.
