choosing a california bar review course

Post by Jojo » Wed Jul 14, 2010 12:05 pm

This may have already been answered, but it didn't come up in my cursory search, so...
Which Bar Review course should I take for the California bar?
I think BarBri is the most common, but do people have thoughts on whether there is another that is better? I have heard Emanuels is starting one that actually allows questions and interaction with the lecturer, but it is too new to have a track record so i am concerned.

If I do Barbri, is it worth it for me to do the class?
And is there any difference between the live class or the DVD class? it seems if they don't let you ask the lecturers questions, then there is no point to the live class.

I am thinking the ideal situation is to take a class so I have study buddies, but then to also be able to rewatch the videos on my own on the weekends or whenever. This seems like the most expensive plan though because it requires both rent in a city and paying for the 24/7 access to the videos and other materials. (please correct me if I am wrong about this and you don't have to pay extra to get all the materials available on your computer).

Given that i will probably be unemployed, is it better to save 2k on rent, live at home and just do the individual study where they send you the videos and the books?

Any thoughts on how to go about this?
