TO CURRENT YALE STUDENTS
Do you keep your Yale law email when you graduate?
If not, what does it become?
(I know it seems weird but it would be great to know!)

Re: TO CURRENT YALE STUDENTS
When you graduate, your Yale e-mail address becomes self-aware and decides to apply to law school itself. In turn, when it graduates law school, its law school e-mail address chooses to apply to law school.

I really hope that you're giving serious weight to the answer to this question when choosing law schools. I imagine your pro-con list for Yale is all tied up right now, and if you get to enjoy the lasting prestige of a Yale Law e-mail address, you will go to Yale, and if not, Harvard it is.creatinganalt wrote:Do you keep your Yale law email when you graduate?

Re: TO CURRENT YALE STUDENTS
I think you get a permanent forwarding address but not a fully functional email address. And your "Yale Law" email address is indistinguishable from any other Yale email address. I.e., "law" is not anywhere in the address: firstname.lastname@yale.edu. (In case you want the added prestige of the word "law" stuck in there. Sorry to disappoint.)
Edit: Not sure if the alumni forwarding address is identical to your original email address.

Amazing.
Sorry guys, I'm not that shallow - I'm trying to get hold of someone who has left YLS and I know that HLS keep the same email. Hoping that it's the same address so can track them down.
Thanks!

Re: TO CURRENT YALE STUDENTS
All Yale alums get a forwarding account with the suffix "@aya.yale.edu"
There is no standardized form for what you enter before the suffix, but most people go with the standard format for yale email addresses, i.e., firstname.lastname@aya.yale.edu
