Great thread, mega. I'm very interested to see what people are doing.
It might help for people to post grades/tier as well.

Where's the category for general public interest? Legal nonprofit FTW-- that's where I am. I started Monday. There should also be categories for studying abroad and taking classes.
My school is known, and anonymity fail ---> no grades, but they were fine, and I was never asked about them for this job. I lucked out and got a public service stipend through a student organization, so I feel extremely lucky, and I'm really enjoying my internship so far. I should add that I'll be taking classes later in the summer.
I'll move this to Forum for Law Students, if that's okay, just so more people see it.

Yeah legal non profit here too. I'd also add a public defenders category maybe.
ETA: good grades but the job never asked for my transcript so that had nothing to do with it. Stipend from the school. REALLY excited about the job.

Thanks for fixin' up the thread OS. I was at work. Oh no, not my judicial internship. My other, 30 hour a week job as a projectionist in a movie theatre. What a terrible idea this was. Half the week I'm up at an ungodly hour to drive downtown to the federal courthouse. The rest of the week/ weekend I work until 1 and 2 AM. Planning ahead fail.OperaSoprano wrote:MegaTTTron's kind of on a roll right now, but yes, I agree.dood wrote:Why didn't somebody think of this earlier? 180 thread.

Wow, that is seriously a cool job! I hoped you wouldn't mind my alterations in your poll. The brilliant idea was yours.megaTTTron wrote:Thanks for fixin' up the thread OS. I was at work. First semester, above median @ Duke, had two realistic offers. One was a federal agency in DC, the other a SF Bay Area judicial internship. Took the judicial internship for cost/location/awesomely cool judge considerations.
Solid thread.

Research assistant. Like the prof I'm working with, I get paid, and I'm learning an awful lot about legal research. I can't complain.

Same here. I've learned more about Lexis and Westlaw in a week than I did all year. Plus I don't have to wear a suit every day.SoftBoiledLife wrote:Research assistant. Like the prof I'm working with, I get paid, and I'm learning an awful lot about legal research. I can't complain.

Also should note that you can now revote and choose up to three options, so if you are splitting, please so indicate!

Yep. Can't beat a job that lets you work from home and in sweats. RAing ftw.BobSacamano wrote:Same here. I've learned more about Lexis and Westlaw in a week than I did all year. Working for an internet legal and insurance advice company. I spend a lot of time researching stuff and writing about it in easy to understand terms. It pays, its legally related, everyone is really cool, and they let me work from home a lot of the time so I can't complain.
Edit: I'm a 1L by the way.

Re: Poll - Class of 2012 - What Are You Doing This Summer?
this is a great thread thanks for putting it up. Can people specify whether their work is paid/unpaid? Some have, but do people get paid firm jobs after their 1L year or is that strictly a 2L thing? tyia
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
