Harvard KSG Grading
I am considering adding on an MPP from K-school. Anyone at the K-school know if there are any graduation honors (similar to the cum laude honors or the Baker at HBS)? Seems if there aren't any graduation honors the academics are likely weak and I will need to rethink the investment.

if good grades aren't recognized at all, it's likely that grades don't matter and are seen as pointless. even hbs has academic honors. what about ksg?

It does not matter. Employers are hiring
(1) b/c you are at Harvard Law
(2) Based on you HLS grades? (HP-P-LP)
(3) that you have an MPP from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government
.....at this point grades don't matter, getting in and doing both/paying for both is the hard part. Most Master Programs give all As, A- anyway and KSG is VERY well respected in the field of government/public policy

I'm not at HLS but I am nearby and am able to work out a dual degree program.underachiever wrote:It does not matter. Employers are hiring

A few points:
1 - Law school grades matter. Even if it's yls which doesn't give out the cum laude honors, because for clerkships they will read that transcript closely. We also have to pass the bar.
2 - Public Policy schools aren't as established as law schools. It may be okay for yale law to do without the honors, but I don't think policy schools should be doing that.
3 - Does anyone know whether KSG dishes out any honors at all? The course content seems interesting but wouldn't want to spend all that cash on an "easy" degree where good grades aren't respected, even if it's Harvard.
