To me, it seems living close to or on campus would produce better results. Unfortunately, the school I plan on attending is in a seemingly rough neighborhood and the housing near campus is less than ideal. I was told that many students live in an area that is about a 10-20 minute drive away. In an effort to save money by not having to commute and to live close to campus I am considering living in the law/grad student dorm. I havent lived in a dorm since my freshman year in undergrad so I'm a little apprehensive about it for various reasons. Does anyone have any experience living in a law/grad student dorm on their campus? Thanks.
I posted this elsewhere as well. Thought current students might have a response.

Not sure if this applies to your situation, but if you live in the dorms you won't qualify for in state tuition.

The answer to your question will depend in large part on what school you'll be attending. Some law schools have nice housing that attracts friendly, considerate tenants; some do not.

My advice to you is to not sign a lease and try sleeping in the library. If you want any chance of getting a job that pays more than $25000 a year out of any school besides Harvard, you are going to need to be first in your class. In order to do that, you need to maximize your time in the library. Assuming that your school is good enough to have a library (which I'm not sure schools other than Harvard do), you should sleep there. If it does not, try sleeping in the moot court room.
