Question for you S. Ct. buffs

Post by BradyToMoss » Tue Mar 09, 2010 4:15 pm

I've been having a tough time working on some research on the Court's most recent decision (mostly Citizens United), and have been struggling to find serious commentaries on the Court's decisions. Any legal magazines or journals out there that people have found informative and may have put out serious commentary on decisions this term so far? Other places to look besides law reviews/journals? Any help is greatly appreciated.

The editorial below by Stanley Fish (from the NYT) is a pretty good summary of the two basic philosophical views on the First Amendment that were at odds.

Found a great article on US Law Week through Lexis, and that editorial you provided was great as well, Dick. Thanks guys.

Search the Legal Newspaper database on Lexis or Westlaw.

Search the archives of the Volokh Conspiracy blog (http://www.volokh.com) for some good legal commentary on cases that have come out this term.

TTT-LS wrote:Volokh is pretty credited, and I definitely recall seeing some in-depth analysis on SCOTUSBlog. Might check Concurring Opinions too.

But to save you some effort, Citizens United is an incredibly poorly decided case that will not stand the test of time. HTH.

Several commentaries I've read through have mentioned Stevens dissent being the likely model for the decision that ultimately overturns Citizens United.

Thanks for the SCOTUSblog and Volokh recommendations TTT and jag2L, both had some solid articles and commentary.
