How long does it take for you to write a Note for a journal?

I am curious, most seem around 30 pages long. Doing that plus studying for your regular classes would seem like a daunting task. Also, if you are on the exec board do you have to write a note, or can you just review other peoples work.

How do you get on the board and does it look way better than LR on the resume? I'm not trying to be arrogant or anything but I think I have a decent shot of distinguishing myself on my school's LR. If it really means that much I'd gun for EIC, but I know that's not the easiest thing to land.
