1L Summer internships
So I know that the 2Ls/3Ls go around telling stories about how not to worry and you'll have a summer internship. They tell stories about how they got their job in march or april, but seriously I feel like a ton of other 1Ls have already gotten their internships, and I'm getting more anxious about not hearing back from any at all yet! Is anybody else in this situation?

Yeah, I have an interview today, but I'm still nervous. Most small firms and solos start hiring in March/April, (or so I'm told), so I am hoping to pick something up locally then. I'm just interviewing for the "competitive positions" right now, but honestly for your 1L year all you gotta do is something "legal" hopefully involving research and writing.

I would get in it, but depending on what you want to do you probably didn't miss the boat.tingles wrote:So I know that the 2Ls/3Ls go around telling stories about how not to worry and you'll have a summer internship. From what I've heard at BU, federal judge 1L stuff is pretty much over, state judges are still interviewing/giving offers as we speak, and a lot of government positions are done. The CDO tells us that small firms will be looking later on - but there are a few people with midsize firm offers already. Also, a lot of prestigious summer PI programs are done recruiting. This is how it is in Boston at least.

I am in your shoes too. Hoping things will turn around soon. Good luck!

Yeah I have nothing. Could you just volunteer your time with a solo for like 4 weeks and be good? I don't really like the idea of spending an entire summer volunteering my time to a local personal injury attorney. Freak, pay me $7 an hour and I'm there, haha.

Honestly curious about the answer of this. Say I can't secure a paying position. Could I offer to work part-time for free for a solo (say, 20 hours a week) and pursue other $$ opportunities at the same time, or should I work full time?A'nold wrote:Yeah I have nothing.
