Another Transfer Question

Post by InAbsentia » Fri Jan 15, 2010 4:38 pm

I currently am at Cardozo in the May part-time program. Since I began law school this past May, I have completed two semesters (20 credits compared to 15 credits that the full time students have completed up to this point). As of now, my GPA is a 3.544. I am considering transferring, but wanted some input. Though Cardozo does not rank until the end of the year, according to last years numbers, this puts me in about the top 10-15% of the class.

I am looking to ultimately work in New York, but am nervous about job prospects. I noticed that Georgetown has an Early Action program. Do I have a shot at getting in? Secondly, if I do want to stay in New York, would it make more sense just to remain at Cardozo or would a Georgetown degree ultimately take me further for employment in the long run?

I would also consider transferring to Fordham, which is where I originally was aiming to go. Would it make sense to transfer to Fordham from Cardozo? Or is it not a big enough jump to warrant transferring?

I know this board is getting a lot of these topics, but I would really appreciate some thoughts. Thank you.

Do you have scholarship money at your current school? Depending on how much scholarship money you have, it is almost always in your benefit to transfer to a T14 if you have the chance. Transferring to Fordham may also be beneficial if there is nothing major tying you to Cardozo.
