Questions about the business of law

Post by nycparalegal » Wed Jan 06, 2010 6:46 pm

Just to get this out of the way, I'm not in law school and I'm applying this year. However, I work at a biglaw firm, and I was able to get a meeting with one of the corporate partners to talk about the business of law.

If anyone has any questions, I wouldn't mind asking and relaying back the answer.

Given this economy with the rampant layoffs, I am curious to know how much are law firms committed to developing the legal skills of their associates? Will they just stick new associates for long periods of document review, or will they give associates responsibility for performing complex tasks?
