it's worth a read. It's WAY better than PLS or Law School Confidential.

Ya I like it so far, I started it yesterday and am about a 1/4 way through the book. Pretty interesting read, though so far, I haven't read much new information.Snooker wrote:it's worth a read. It's WAY better than PLS or Law School Confidential.

Haven't read this, but I'm going through Getting to Maybe.
It's making me see what I should have done on the test, and killing my confidence about my performance. However, I don't know that I would have gotten as much out of it if I read it before school started and I didn't have time during the semester so... what can you do.

I read this last week. It's pretty good, though there's nothing groundbreaking in it. Probably would have been better for me to read this before 1L.

Re: 1L of a Ride
Just wanted to give this a bump. Just got this book and am starting it now to prepare for August. Any new thoughts on this book? Thanks!

Can you read it like a sort of "glimpse into past experiences" of law school? Like, I read Turow's book and loved it, but more as a pseudo-fiction book than anything I thought would be useful. Would you say it's similar to that, or is it more a "how to" like Law School Confidential or Planet Law School (neither of which I have any desire to read)?Cilent21 wrote:It's kinda boring and really old, but I enjoyed reading it actually. Either read it or don't; it shouldn't be a big deal. Took me like three days to get through

Re: 1L of a Ride
I couldn't get more than a few chapters into PLS...it just sounds like some disgruntled dude on a rant. Or is it just me?
Liked LSC, thumbing through Getting to Maybe and probably gonna grab 1L of a Ride.
Also read Lawyer Boy. Entirely engaging and amusing. If anyone is going to DePaul (like me!) the dude who wrote it is a DePaul grad. It's funny seeing deans' and professors' names in the book, gives you an idea of a few of their personalities.

Inygma, if you want to read something that will prepare you for your future King Hall career, google "erotic Harry Potter fan fic"

Sounds exactly like the Turow book ("One L"), which I really enjoyed. I'll look for it.Cilent21 wrote:It's definitely not a how-to book. Also: I read both LSC and PLS II. PLS is def a waste of time; I would not recommend it. LSC was kinda cool though. I don't know how much of it I'll actually take with me into LS, but I didn't hate the book

Wow. I'm retarded. Total RC fail. I was talking about One L by Turrow the whole time. I actually haven't read 1L of a Ride. lol My badkeg411 wrote:Sounds exactly like the Turow book ("One L"), which I really enjoyed. I'll look for it.Cilent21 wrote:It's definitely not a how-to book. Just to confirm for everyone else, 1L of a Ride is nothing like One L. It's more like Law School Confidential and I would actually recommend it right after Getting to Maybe.Cilent21 wrote:Wow.
