Re: 2L. No motivation
My journal did away with the one position I was interested in. This leaves my options as: run for EIC (even though I don't care about the journal - and don't really want to do this minus that it looks good on a resume), quit the journal (which looks bad on a resume), be stuck footnoting as a 3L (I think I'd kill myself) or run for comment editor (i like writing, comments are only 10 pages right? But, at my journal this also involves reading the write-on submissions over the summer, which I really don't want to do. I don't think I could pick among equally good papers, or be able to tell if someone is good at footnoting.) Thoughts?

Re: 2L. No motivation
I was dinged for an ed board position (our 3Ls pick). Would have been nice to get something, but I'm honestly not that upset, because now I have less work. I wasn't even going to run initially, but decided to do it at the last minute. My love and interest for LR is roughly equal to zero, so it probably works out for all parties involved.

I got an e-board position. Get to plan an event rather than cite-check/edit. Of course, I'm pretty sure I also got the position because basically no one else wanted it
. Though I kind of don't get why, since I get to network with firms/practitioners and professors rather than sit and cite check all day.

This is the job I wanted. I love planning stuff. Stupid journal for combining it with production editor (aka, the tech person).keg411 wrote:I got an e-board position. Re: 2L. No motivation
I thought about symposium editor, but on our Journal, so much of their work is back-ended and I can't imagine wanting to put in that kind of time toward the end of my third year. Also, managing the egos of all those faculty members sounds hellish.

Re: 2L. No motivation
Yeah I want symposium/planning. But I walk into the interview and they asked me to consider cites bc apparently I'm really good at them. I tried to tell them in the nicest way possible that I hate them. I did say they I have no passion for academic legal writing. Hopefully that pushes me over the edge into NOT citations.

Also, our Symposium is in the Fall, so I can pretty much sleep the back half of 3L year. Of course, it probably means I have to do stuff over the summer... but whatever. Still better then cites.

Re: 2L. No motivation
You've got a full year in so I don't see what the problem is. I plan on doing away with mine after this year is over, that way I have the full year, I am in the journal's 2011-2012 edition, and its on my resume for life.snowpeach06 wrote:My journal did away with the one position I was interested in. Final draft of comment due on Friday, so bumping this thread seemed appropriate.

Yep. Sat down at my desk like three hours to work on it. I've typed a paragraph. Sigh.traehekat wrote:Final draft of comment due on Friday, so bumping this thread seemed appropriate.

You will be loving this turn of events come 3L year, especially if you have a job hooked up.

No clue what I was thinking taking 5 substantive classes. I sure hope you can learn everything you need to know for Ethics in 2-3 days.

I did. Forget the outline, just use note cards for the rules and stick in any other relevant information onto the notecardstraehekat wrote:No clue what I was thinking taking 5 substantive classes. I sure hope you can learn everything you need to know for Ethics in 2-3 days.

I'm planning on using the BarBri video for the MPRE. I don't know any other way to tackle this class.

Try to get your hands on a BarBri MPRE book and just outline that. It pretty much has everything spelled out.Pretzel_Logic wrote:Wow, are we the same person?traehekat wrote:No clue what I was thinking taking 5 substantive classes. I picked that up last week. That's probably my last exam and so it's unfortunately getting put to the side for now, but the general consensus is that book is a lifesaver.

Failboating really hardcore at getting ready for finals. I still have two papers to do before I start outlining, and neither are done. My first final is the 30th.

Man, I've literally done like NOTHING all semester. I took all substantive classes thinking I was able to get away doing absolutely nothing in BA last semester until a week before the final and I did fine, so I should be able to repeat that "effort" 5 more times this semester. Didn't exactly realize that this would also require me beginning my "effort" 5 times earlier than I did last semester. Doesn't help that I have seemed to develop a moral apprehension or something to going to class.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
