There is a rule here in TLS. No numbers in the range of 15 to 19 will be preceded by the capital letter "T". Violators will be shot. By a frog.MadameX wrote:Not sure what that means. Anyway, I just got my last grade which ended up being a B+ - blah. Anyway. I now have a 3.8. Are HYS possible if I maintain similar grades this semester?
The valid ranges are HYS, CCN, T10, T14, T20, T50, and TTT.*
*However, the Montauk book, to this day, still uses the moniker Top 15. It is invalid. There is no number 15.

The use of T30 is permitted herein.Snooker wrote:There is a rule here in TLS. No numbers in the range of 15 to 19 will be preceded by the capital letter "T". Violators will be shot. Yeah, what are the rules for that? Are we allowed to tell employers one grade?eth3n wrote:Still only one grade...district court judges in CA want legit transcript or no transcript...getting angry O_O"

I think you should report all the grades you got at the time you go in for an interview, or otherwise give them the full gamut when grades are complete.OperaSoprano wrote:Yeah, what are the rules for that? Any smidge above median solidarity here? I feel half defeated, half complacent.

I'm going to go with the former, and hope the latter will still be good! My god, this is impossibly hard. Waiting to get into Fordham was cake compared to this.Lxw wrote:I think you should report all the grades you got at the time you go in for an interview, or otherwise give them the full gamut when grades are complete.OperaSoprano wrote:Yeah, what are the rules for that? Do you think they would have done better had they not transferred?steve_nash wrote:Regarding the transfer from a T18 school to a T14--
The transfers from my school (currently T20) that went to UChicago, NYU, and UPenn did not do well at all in OCI. Only one managed to snag a job at a "good" firm. Granted, that was only this past year, which was a terrible OCI year for nearly everyone. But still, something to consider. I think it'd be worth it for HYS, however.

The T20 rule seems perplexing to me. Wouldn't most people on this forum agree there is a noticeable difference between MN/BU/Emory/WashU and Texas/Vanderbilt/UCLA/USC, enough so to warrant a distinct category?
Regardless, I will definitely not be too hasty to transfer. The thing I'm most concerned about is landing market paying job in NYC; I don't really care about the prestige of the firm.
I'll see how next semester goes. I don't think I'll do ED at Chicago, but will probably put in an EA app at Georgetown.

I have friends that transferred into Columbia from T25s and OCI did not go well whatsoever. There are only 3 schools where I would entertain a possible transfer.steve_nash wrote:Regarding the transfer from a T18 school to a T14--

Do transfer students generally have a harder time at OCI, or is it just ITE? I seem to remember an ATL article about T14 students complaining that transfer students were taking a lot of the good jobs at OCI.

GULC, Vandy, and Texas are not very different from each other. UCLA/USC, I am not so sure. Their students have high numbers, but don't seem to place into jobs as well and the faculty isn't as well known.MadameX wrote:The T20 rule seems perplexing to me.
