Good for a 3.88 GPA. On a 3.0 curve... I have to have a shot at being #1 right?
For sure this must mean top 10 % I would think...

You still need to know the standard deviation to know for sure.mistergoft wrote:My school's curved on a 3.2 and 3.75 is top 5%, so...apper123 wrote:Got my last grade... A!!!!

I concede this point, I am just providing anecdotal evidence for no reason in particular...Desert Fox wrote:You still need to know the standard deviation to know for sure.mistergoft wrote:My school's curved on a 3.2 and 3.75 is top 5%, so...apper123 wrote:Got my last grade... A!!!!

My school is curved around an 85, so a 3.something would be like...bottom 0.0000001%

I'll still be in this thread sweating for all you guys too. I appreciate the support and apologize for any douchey posts.
If it helps, there was a 5-way tie (class of 160 or so) for #1 at the end of the entire year last year at a 3.91. That has me a little nervous. I feel like that's an anomaly, though.

You can pretty safely say you're in the top 5% if that's the case, though. Like very safely.

Are your plans to transfer? If you're at a T1, you can do better than that I assure you...apper123 wrote:GULC one time?

I just like the allure of GULC EA because it feels like grade insurance to me, assuming I get in. So if I screw up 2nd semester or get Swine flu on test day, I have a solid back up plan, assuming I don't really see a huge drop.

With his grades, that's like a professional athlete having the hots for Drew Barrymore or something...Lxw wrote:Maybe he has the hots for GULC.mistergoft wrote:Are your plans to transfer? If you're at a T1, you can do better than that I assure you...apper123 wrote:GULC one time?
I predict you can probably get into Columbia/NYU/Chi if you continue those kind of grades...
Chi ED might be something to look into.

Yeah. Probably shipping an app off to GULC EA. Any thoughts on my odds there? (or should I take this to another thread?)Cavalier wrote:Oh, I didn't know that. In that case, brag away! Are you looking to transfer?you UVA folk need to keep in mind I attend a lowly T2
Also, a LOT of people from my school transfer to UVA. Hint: we're nearly neighbors. Obviously that's contingent on my second semester grades, and I am not just banking on good grades again. Maybe I just got lucky???

I don't know much about transfer chances, but I assume that with those grades, you'll be in an excellent position. If you need references from professors, obviously you should work on getting those.Yeah. Probably shipping an app off to GULC EA. Any thoughts on my odds there? I don't think anyone who does great in all of their classes merely "got lucky." If you did that well, you clearly know what you're doing.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
