First draft of 35 page comment due on the 23rd. I decided to stay in the hotel room all day and get a good portion of it knocked out. Almost 1PM now and I've yet to do more than open the word document and take the binder of research stuff out of my backpack. Pretty sure I've earned myself a lunch break though.

Last exam + a short take home due tomorrow. Don't want to get out of bed.
Totally forgot how hard it always is to put effort into the last exam of the semester...

I am finished. And my exam period ended with a no motivation bang as I finished Antitrust early and didn't feel like combing back through it 800 times to add stuff. Too burnt out and too over this shit. Hopefully whatever I wrote was good enough for a B+.

I have a draft of my note due a week or two after we come back from break. I don't give a fuck about being published, so i'm not going to start working on that until I put in some solid video game time.

Not sure if I'd rather be studying (like I was last week) or hanging out with the in-laws (like I am this week). Both are terrible.

2l is better than break because you can do nothing, but still say you are in law school to avoid family and other such obligations. im really looking forward to the start of nxt semesterdesertlaw wrote:Not sure if I'd rather be studying (like I was last week) or hanging out with the in-laws (like I am this week). Re: 2L. No motivation
I complained to our ed in chief about the notes being mandatory and he tried to tell me that if they weren't, there would not be enough LR associates volunteering notes. First of all, LOL. Second of all, mine is going to be such horseshit that my notes editor will wish I didn't hand anything in. I've given up so completely that the last 3 pages of my draft (which is 20 pages short of the minimum already) are filled with unsupported musings, puns, and thinly veiled anti-republican sentiments/jokes.BarbellDreams wrote:Wait, I have to write some note thats due a week from when second semester starts? That sounds better than most LR notes that I've seen.mths wrote:I complained to our ed in chief about the notes being mandatory and he tried to tell me that if they weren't, there would not be enough LR associates volunteering notes. WIN. I currently have a footnote citation to "derp derp derp" I bet my notes editor doesn't catch itmths wrote:I complained to our ed in chief about the notes being mandatory and he tried to tell me that if they weren't, there would not be enough LR associates volunteering notes. I no longer have to write a comment. I just have to do research paper for a professor. I will be done by the end of January instead of dragging out a comment through March. Plus it might get published.
I can feel motivation creeping back up on me. Someone hold me and tell me it will be OK.

Similar situation. Potentially publishable paper with professor (alliteration not intended).kalvano wrote:I no longer have to write a comment. I just have to do research paper for a professor. It's going to be OK, if you just put it off until after Xmas, and then after NYE. Shhh... Have a sip of some whiskey.

Ugh, first draft of comment due tomorrow night. I have about 22/35 pages written. I wonder what happens if I turn something in that isn't 35 pages long.

Re: 2L. No motivation
I did this with the first draft of my note. I got a very nasty email back from my notes editor (with EIC and some other editor CCd) saying I had an hour and a half to finish the rest or it would be considered incomplete. After a semester of hell I didn't want to get kicked out of LR so I finished it, but I bet nothing really would have happened.traehekat wrote:Ugh, first draft of comment due tomorrow night. Re: 2L. No motivation
Our LR kicks people out and makes them take it off their resume if they miss too many deadlines. However, we don't have strict page limits just guidelines.Ludovico Technique wrote:I did this with the first draft of my note.
