Re: Pennoyer: irrational fears of 1Ls who did well last semester
Grades are here at last. I did fine. Not so well that HYS will be banging down my door to ask why I don't come transfer, but well enough that I hope my school won't regret pulling me from the waitlist all those months ago. I hope I did FIT proud. I am relieved and proud to have come this far. I made it, and I feel such relief and happiness to be through with waiting. 1L year is a memory tonight.

Congrats, OS. While I post far less often than I read these boards, I'm glad to hear that you did well. I don't believe in many things, but I'd like to cling to the hope that there's such a thing as law school karma -- good things come to good people. A bit naive, especially for me, but there's hope. Congratulations, nonetheless!OperaSoprano wrote:Grades are here at last. I did fine. That is really sweet of you! I won't be grading onto law review, if that's the standard, but I was a waitlist admit with a degree in fashion merchandising. My own family thought I would be below median. I didn't achieve perfection (not by the standards of all those top 5% TLSers, lol!), but I'm grateful and lucky things ended as they did.ak362 wrote:Congrats, OS. Glad to hear you did well, OS. Your story is truly inspirational, although, of course, don't necessarily think I would recommend to anyone that they should try to follow in your footsteps.OperaSoprano wrote:Grades are here at last. lol... although i love civ. pro. My favorite class soooo far!!!!
Both my best law school friend and I booked it, and today my friend ran into the professor and she said that she only gave two As(my friend's and mine) because giving another A to someone else would not do justice since the quality of our exam was such that giving someone else an A would be an injustice to us. It felt good to hear that she thought that... However, I few hours later I had to take a final and 1) i didnt have time to check the MC portion and 2) I did not develop the conflict of interest issue as much as i should have.... Conclusion? I'm upset!

I can beat that rbgrocio. After I took my Crimlaw exam, I saw the professor crying in the hallway. I asked him what was wrong and he said that after all of his years of cynicism, my exam has opened his heart and made him feel like a little boy again. He continued to say that now he remembered the true spirit of crimlaw. He proceeded to take the rare step of failing everybody but me, and giving me an A+++, because anything else wouldn't be fair. He then organized a parade in my honor, in which all of my failing classmates had to wave and smile. Of course, I got invited to teach the class for next semester, but I declined.

There is no context. I was just happy that my civ. pro professor said that my exam was really good. He then felt the need to say that! I must recognize he is good at creative writing.

Ah... I've got 5 grades that should come out any minute. This is way worse than the LSAT.

While this thread still lives, allow me to strike fear into all of your hearts with the crushing news I just received:
I have to take Con Law again.
Con Law is not a 1L core requirement class here, and they only accept transfer credits for "1L core requirement" classes. It's still a required class, but one you must take during 2L or 3L year. It's still a prereq to a bunch of the cool classes, so I'm going to have to take it again ASAP to get it out of the way. Never saw that coming! As a bonus, my old school allowed electives 1L spring, and those don't transfer either, so if I want to take anything requiring Evidence I have to take Evidence again.
Retakes: A crushing fear, and not entirely irrational for everyone!
