This is what happens when people who don't know shit about legal hiring (Black Hat, in case that wasn't painfully obvious) attempt to give any sort of meaningful conjecture about the job market. I thought it was well established that once you decide to apply to law schools, you become an expert on everything from the LSAT to law school exams and legal hiring. On your first day of law school, you look down upon ignorant 0Ls as know-nothing douches and teach them a lesson or two about how OCI works and explain the value of prestige. Once you begin preparing for OCI, you discuss partnership tracks and wonder if a v20 would be lucky enough to bring you on as a partner after a few years at a v5 or should you only meet with v10 (must maintain that prestige at all times)

Can't wait for Black Hat to begin discussing how easy it is to become a partner if you work at top firms

No one has belittled the OP. People giving their honest opinion that dropping out now is the best course of action is not belittling the OP. Some might say they're being negative, others might say they're being realistic, but it neither case does it belittle or insult the OP.

Let me explain my previous response.

Although Blackhat is completely wrong (public interest hiring is NOT easy), grades are simply not as make or break as they are in private practice. My experience has been that experience, REFERENCES, and networking (just by knowing people in the field) goes a long way in getting you a job. I had various job prospects because I had a very long track record of public service and I had really good recommendations who went out of their way to help me land a job. Having said that, it is a big risk, only you know how much you want to practice law. Good luck!

I was just trying to give the OP some support, rather than just dumping all over him. No one can argue that the OP is in a very tight spot. However, all the negativity/callousness is soul crushing. There are ways to give advice with both the glass half full approach and the glass half empty approach.

tbh the grades are ok to get prosecution at a local possibly even state level. honestly the thing that's bothering me is you're paying sticker when I wouldn't do prosecution unless AUSA for that debt regardless of my grades.
