Really don't get this...Idk what else you guys would expect in law school...besides, I appreciate the chance to be surrounded by intelligent people every day, even if they are gasbags, especially after working at a lot of retail/restaurant jobs throughout undergrad corporate office jobs

This is by far the best thing about law school. All my past boss' IQ points put together doesn't surpass people at the tail end of the curve here.

In law school, it's the exams that are arbitrary and Kafkaesque, not the people.

I love writing briefs. I actually like reading treatises. I don't even mind the curve, because, in reality, it's the only thing motivating me to try to become an expert on material I'll probably never use again in my life. The two things I hate the most are: 1) the subjective nature of exams, and 2) no feedback. I actually think I hate #2 more. Even with a scholarship, I'm still paying way, way too much money to have almost zero feedback and/or training. You can't actually learn from the current system of one final exam being 100% of your grade, a grade that you won't even see until after the next semester has begun -- and if the professor will even talk to you about it, they'll be so vague as to be mostly unhelpful.

I also hate that Biglaw is so shallow in their hiring criteria -- yet they still wonder why associate turnover is a constant problem.

I'm noticing that a lot of people at my school don't *enjoy* law school: it's a lot of stress, and I think you'd have to be a really odd breed to truly enjoy the 1L year. I hate the gossip. Everyone shit talks everyone. I think even friends shit talk their own friends with other people. It's so common, it's weird.

Other than that, I hate LRW. I hate the UCC. It's like a maze. You look up one part of it and it directs you to another part, which directs you to another part. I hate the fucking UCC.

I will echo the UCC frustration, especially since my prof tells us to just look through the UCC and find the proper provisions prior to class, and then gets angry when nobody has a fucking clue as to which provisions apply in the case. He eventually explains it, but not before we are all already frustrated as hell.

I enjoyed 1L year. Sure, it was crazy and stressful, but there was something fun about it.
Way more fun than 2L year. The 2L year life-stress is way worse than the 1L year school-stress.

Yeah, I'm digging this stuff. My professors rock, the gunning isn't nasty at all (that might make me the gunner?), the curve is what it is, the debt I'll sort out in hopefully a fairly small amount of time given how placement looks if you hit median. If you got into this business without knowing what was involved... sorry?

I also had tranfer-related stress (quiver probably does as well) in that I moved pretty far from home/all my friends for the first time in 6+ years.

This may not be a good idea. Competition for Chicago these days is fierce -- mainly due to the fact that there's zero jobs there. It's risky to waste bids on Chicago unless you're a sure thing to get a job there. Not sure what school you go to, but I would only bid heavily there if I were in the top 33% at a T14. There's been a lot of stories on here about people at median from T10 schools (even some T6 schools) striking out at OCI because they wasted all their bids on Chicago.

Yeah, I don't agree with a single thing you said, but to each their own

TBF, I could be different. I went to a heavy science and engineering undergrad and all of my friends were computer and electrical engineers, I had a science degree, so now that I'm immersed with poly sci and English people I could be the oddball out.

This could also be the case with me. I was pre-med in college, and I could literally vomit any time someone brings up the slippery slope argument or does some equally lawyerish thing.

To be fair, however, I wouldn't take myself out on a date, either.

I hate when people use buzzwords and think they're presenting some novel argument. "This will open the floodgates of litigation." "It's comparing apples to oranges." etc, etc...

What's worse is the professor is just going over the arguments already covered in the "notes" section of the casebook. All you had to do was read the section and you will know the answer he wants!

Otherwise, as long as you're efficient law school takes very little time. It's the exceptions to the rule, like pointless Memos, that make it seem tough.

I hate that it reminds me of high school and I feel exactly the same walking through the law school building as I did walking through my high school.
