If your school isn't a member, and doesn't give out awards for the best exams, there's nothing to put on your resume. If your school gives A+ grades though, then it will speak for itself on your transcript.MrKappus wrote:+1mallard wrote:The lesson of my second semester is that if you learned to take exams and you have an outline with you and have looked at the boldface headings, it's nearly impossible to screw up too badly.
Would you all put a CALI award on a resume if your school's not a member (per the list below)? If so, what would you call it?

Hmm...not really though. I mean, there might have been more than one A+ in a section, right? I guess you're right though, that I can't really call it a "Book Award" if there isn't an actual award. And putting "Highest Grade in ____" would just be douchey. Thx for the responses.Cavalier wrote:If your school isn't a member, and doesn't give out awards for the best exams, there's nothing to put on your resume. If you didn't get an award, how do you know you got the highest grade? As you said yourself, there might have been more than one A+ in a section, you wouldn't know for sure yours was the actual highest or not unless you got such an award (which you didn't get).MrKappus wrote:Hmm...not really though. I guess that's nice to know and all, but you can't really put "got an E-mail from my prof" on your resume.MrKappus wrote:Email from the prof.vanwinkle wrote:If you didn't get an award, how do you know you got the highest grade? Well my grades were all over the board. From A to B... same as first semester. I'm so confused. I study the same way for each class yet I go from one of the highest grades in the class to below median.
Good news is I pushed my GPA up to 3.5 from a 3.3 - yey for top 1/3rd!

I had this problem last semester, and it's looking like it's going to be worse this semester. I was hoping for more consistency, and I'm getting it, but in the wrong direction.Blindmelon wrote:Well my grades were all over the board. From A to B... same as first semester. I'm so confused. I'm far from a brilliant legal mind but went from running the range fall semester to getting almost all of the same grade spring semester.
I just took what got me my best grades in fall and applied those methods to all my classes in spring.

+1. I tried to do what I did for contracts last in the fall, and i ended up with .18 less in my gpa! lol. I think really there is no method to this. If u study and put effort, I doubt you will flunk, but it is 1) impossible to predict a method to do just as well as or better than you did before, and 2) tried to predict what grades ur going to get is waste of time and energy!vanwinkle wrote:I tried to do this but it didn't work apparently.RVP11 wrote:I just took what got me my best grades in fall and applied those methods to all my classes in spring.
I got nothing like I expected, except for International Law, which I was pretty sure I did great on! Other than that everything was completely unforeseen!

Last semester = did well Spring = did much better. About .25 better. The only thing I can say I know made a difference was making a list of the exact terminology the prof used to describe things and spitting it back out. I don't think I studied much differently at all.

I totally agree. I still think I'm missing something because, like last semester, I've gotten a full spectrum of grades despite trying to replicate what I did in my best class in the fall. Though apparently I suck at closed-book exams, all year around.

Without a graded legal writing class, I would have a 4.0 for the year.
Honestly...why do they do this to us? If I would have researched this fact more, I swear I would have gone to a different school JUST BECAUSE OF THAT

Why would a LW class not be graded . . . isn't that standard?stinger35 wrote:Without a graded legal writing class, I would have a 4.0 for the year.

Waiting and hoping still. The most surreal thing happened to me today, and it makes so little sense that I can't do other than turn it over in my mind while I keep busy with work and research and writing. My life doesn't make any sense at all, but I am still hoping for a springtime GPA miracle. I can make this happen, and I can find a way to live happily if it doesn't, but first, I have a lot of work to do.

Yea, more common than not. But there is still a significant chunk of schools (including t14) that do not grade legal writing and simply give a P/F.megaTTTron wrote:Why would a LW class not be graded . . . isn't that standard?stinger35 wrote:Without a graded legal writing class, I would have a 4.0 for the year.
