I'm guessing it depends a lot on the school / curve / number of students receiving As. If the professor is only giving out a few As, they are probably more likely to send an email. My (TTT) school has a fairly tough curve (i.e. in contracts the prof gave 3 marks that were A- or above out of 44). One in three of my "A" professors sent an email. And he didn't send it until after grades were posted.

Wow...I wish my professors sent emails for As.

My fears were not that irrational either. I've dropped .2 in GPA this semester, but that hit will hopefully be .15 when I get my last grade (an exam I thought I killed). The grade I got today is a little frustrating because a good percentage of the grade was based on a group project. Oy... well I still have my write-on dreams.

Just got another grade today. I am very happy that I did well. Hard work pays off. So far:

Legal writing: A-
Constitutional law: A
Property: A-
Civil Procedure - still waiting.

As Ludacris said: "I'm coming for that #1 spot!"

I just saw that Civ Pro II was posted: A. Which is AWESOME considering the curve (only 3 students get the "A" in a class of 70). I got an A- in Civ Pro I last semester so yeah, feeling kind of happy right now :D

so far all i have is my Con Law grade (A-) which makes me so nervous for the rest of them since i thought con law was my best exam. I am pretty sure i am screwed in crim law, so i need to magically get an A in civ pro (doubtful) and nail the final brief in Legal Writing (unlikely) in order to be top 10%. Now I am freaking out about the shit i turned in for the write on competition

A in LRW which was expected

CrimLaw, outside maybe IP, was by far the exam I was 100% the most confident about and it's not close. What the hell? I'm just dumbfounded right now.

The magic of curves? Or were others saying it was really tough...?

Let's see. I was waking up in cold sweats about my poor performance on torts. I would turn the exam over in my mind again and again, each time finding new intricacies that, I assured myself, my classmates all instantly cottoned on to. Didn't they seem confident after the exam?

I got an A. I have no idea how--I suppose my exam landed on a high stair.

It's just kinda gross cause if it wasn't for this grade, I'd be top 5% and have a shot at CCN as a transfer and definitely MVBP.

With this grade, I may drop out of the top 10% of the class and will get crucified at OCI.

I had a very similar situation with one grade first semester, so I feel your pain. The professor even told me, after an oddly-written exam, that he/she was very surprised at weighed-in below the median (I had like top-5 exams in all other classes). Ultimately, it was my fault for fcking up on my exam preparation for that one class. However, idiosyncratic professor grading styles, FTL.

Heres to hoping this kind of thing doesn't happen to anybody else! (I don't have grades yet, ::palms sweat::)
First semester:
A
A-
A-
A-
A-

Second semester, determined to do better:

A
A
A
A-

then

B.

shoot me in the mouth.

Still pretty good (maybe even better than 1st semester, depending on credits). Congrats.

thanks. i actually did .002 better, but the prof who fucked me is notorious for not reading exams. it just really bums me out that I was so close to really doing better.

One of my grades may be posted tonight. I won't know the rest of them for another 2 weeks minimum, and I think I did substantially worse this semester than last semester. Should I wait until all of them come in to see the damage all at once, or look at them one at a time? I'm thinking all at once (if I have the self-control) will be less traumatic. Thoughts?

This seems like a good place to post this question. Is the first year of law school as brutally hard as advertised, like an entire year of a really rough finals week?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
