I'm thinking they should be going out around this or next week. Not sure though.

Hey shock you were a spring 2015 select right? Are you a 3L or have you graduated?
Are there any other spring board selects still waiting to commission?

Oh alright cool. I'm assuming there is an ODS class between October and August sometime?

The only ones mentioned in our emails were the one that started August 23 and the next on October 18. I'm not sure if there are others but I would assume there would be.S. Re: Military Law - Navy Jag Student Program
I think there are 3 Basic Lawyer classes a year. One that goes Aug to Oct, then Oct to Dec then I think March to May. This is all just personal recollection though, so I may be way off. Part of it may have to do with the idea that the JAGC generally gives you two chances to pass the bar. I think the Spring class is scheduled to end after the Feb results come out and if you failed twice they can drop you prior to spending a ton of money to PCS you to your first duty location.
The kind of shitty thing is if you are in a jurisdiction that releases results late, you may end up getting pushed to the Spring class anyway.

Is it a certainty that we will be in the August ODS class and subsequently in the October Basic Lawyers Course?
Assuming you graduate law school in May 2016, take the BAR in July 2016. Would there be any reason not to go to ODS August 2016?

I've never worked in the detailing shop so this is just based on my observations, but no, it was not a certainty in the past and I don't expect it to change. However, I don't know how they picked who attended which BLC class though. Hopefully as you get closer you will get more info.

Did any of you just take your application photo yourself and upload it, or did you go get pictures taken at jcpenney's or something?

Thanks! More information is always better when trying to make plans with the family.
And I had a photographer take my application photo in a studio.

Roommate took mine in the hallway with my DSLR. Hallway was the only place we had with white walls.Stubbazubba wrote:Did any of you just take your application photo yourself and upload it, or did you go get pictures taken at jcpenney's or something?

Stupid question here: I'm going to go get a suit next week and, lacking much in the way of alternatives, it will almost certainly be what I'll eventually wear in the structured interview. Knowing less than nothing about fashion, can anyone point me in the right direction for what would be appropriate for the interview? I'm assuming solid charcoal or navy would be fine, but I'm not sure if a brown/tan/gray/plaid suit would be inappropriate.

Stick with charcoal or navy. Play it safe and conservative

Jan-March is the BLC you were thinking. March-May is other stuff at NJS.NavyJAG1 wrote:I think there are 3 Basic Lawyer classes a year. Roommate also took mine in a hallway. I wouldn't stress about this at all.

For those that have been to ODS, I saw on the website that we are supposed to bring 3 copies of certain documents with us, then it says that they only accept originals, not copies. Are we supposed to get 3 originals of our birth certificate/social security card/marriage certificate/etc.?

Long time reader here. So first and foremost, I'd like to say thank you for the wealth of information on this thread. It has been beyond helpful! I am a Spring 2015 accession, student program, graduated this past May.ShockTop wrote:For those that have been to ODS, I saw on the website that we are supposed to bring 3 copies of certain documents with us, then it says that they only accept originals, not copies. To tack on to the ODS question above, has anyone received their orders yet for the October ODS? I have commissioned and was advised that I am going to October ODS. I'm not sure if I'm behind the curve or if they send orders out around the same time?

Re: Military Law - Navy Jag Student Program
So I have a sort of unique question about ODS that I was unable to find an answer to anywhere else online. So to anyone who may know; in ODS when you take a PRT are you able to choose running or swimming for the endurance portion? I understand that in the fleet you can, but what about in a training environment?
I've been training for ODS by running, but I have bad knees. Curious as to whether I should incorporate long distance swimming into my workout program.
Thanks all. And to the above poster about orders, congrats! I bet it is exciting to have orders in hand! Please keep us up to date on how ODS is! The more information you can provide about the day to days the better!

When are you going to ODS? The track is fine, but doing the 20 laps in the gym, usually because of snow/ice, was not nice on the joints.S. Does anyone know what they do for indoor PT at ODS? Also, is it still in King Hall?

Just got back from my interview at NJS and during my tour the LT mentioned ODS is still over in King Hall.usn26 wrote:When are you going to ODS?
