Did the apology say what happened in detail regarding the policy. You might want to step away from anything acknowledging wrongdoing - not legal advice, just before you get any.

But socially it's always wrong to be mean, and worse to be mean in a public way. Instead of jumping through lawsuits just go up to them like a human being, and say how stressed you are about having to sit for the bar, get a job, and finances and this really stressed you out and in the moment you behaved poorly. You are taking steps to make sure this never happens again. You're sorry.

Nobody on either side wins anything by this going to court. I don't know why everyone is just encouraging you to make the story worse. It's a community of lawyers, and even if someone's at a bad law school, you don't say @abovethelaw. It's immature and potentially damaging someone. The only result is people laugh at the school, and OP and OP has no degree. Why not start being a mench?

If this story is real then I think the immediate reaction being to sue or make fun of the OP instead of providing the most efficient and anti-conflict solution (say you're sorry for being a jerk) is an example of why lawyers and people on TLS in particular have a poor reputation.
