True. I just meant that I would want to get the hang of law school before taking on a huge time commitment. But I feel like I'm about ready to start volunteering some hours somewhere.r6_philly wrote:Most people don't sign up for this one, because time demand is high. We have fixed weekly shift at legal aid office. We don't really offer any legal advice. Non-attorney advocates just assist in general matters, I did before as an unemployment compensation advocate. We will actually not learn anything in 1L year that would better prepare us for this now or next spring, since the core classes don't really deal with this process.chimp wrote: Interesting. I'm definitely going to be doing some pro bono stuff also. Three weeks in just seems really early.

Re: Best thing about law school?
We man three hour shifts on late afternoon/early evening. I probably have the least amount of time to spend in my class since I have kids, but I feel that the 3 hours is actually the break I need to refresh myself for school work. Also a constant reminder of what I am working toward. It's been great, and I am very glad I got the chance to start this early. Plus, the client interviewing and counseling skill gains are very valuable.chimp wrote: True. I just meant that I would want to get the hang of law school before taking on a huge time commitment.
