That line of work is FAR more prestigious than what many MANY attorneys are currently doing.
LOL @ yo!

Also, ITT MTal shows that "prestigious" does not mean what he thinks it means.
Are you saying you'd rather be doing Doc review in some windowless basement for $20/hour no OT or benefits, as opposed to owning your own business where you take in all the profits and set your own hours?
No, I'm saying that "prestigious" means: having a high reputation; honored; esteemed - so yes, doc review with a JD would be more "prestigious" than picking up dog poo.

It's got to be difficult. In truth, I'd actually feel damn sorry for the guy if he wasn't a complete douchebag...
1st semester I was in the top 1/3rd - 1/4 of my class. Second semester I bombed (below median) but I still passed all my classes. I actually have 2 more years to decide to go back and finish if I want, however, I don't believe this is likely to happen.

TBF, it's normal for biglaw partners to have associates mowing their lawn and cleaning dogshit for them.

God you are a retard. You don't actually say "MY JOB IS TO PICK UP DOG SHIT" when people ask. You say, "I AM THE OWNER OF THE PRE-EMINENT WASTE MANAGEMENT COMPANY IN THE XXX AREA". Believe me, that will get you much more poon than puffing out your chest and blurting out "I AM A SHITLAW/DOC REVIEW ATTORNEY!!!"

As much as people bash Mtal, he is simply bringing up a valid point regarding the state of the legal economy. And everyone calls him a quitter, but he definitely made the right call to get out of law school and has found a job he likes that offers decent financial opportunity.

Is he a dick? Yeah, based on some previous threads I'd say he is. But the pissing and moaning and hating on him is getting old people.

TBF, most of us were just hating on the idiotic video he posted. Then he started with the personal attacks.

Who knows? Video doesn't say. Just that she's mid-30's and has apparently never left her parent's house.

You just contradicted yourself. If you can spin cleaning dog poo, you can spin doing doc review. You really don't have to mention anything specific. "Attorney" probably works well enough on it's own. Most of the lay population thinks all attorneys make alot of money.

Irrelevant. If you hold a JD you waive the right to bitch and moan about debt and income. It's in the reg's somewhere.

I'd argue that the original video's subject (the subject of MTal's OP) is hardly representative. Referencing a near middle age woman living with her parents to indicate the weakness of the legal market would be akin to me bringing up a Cooley biglaw associate to argue the market's strength.

He is doing the pissing and moaning. I don't really understand why hating on him could get old. I mean, he is just so easy to hate :D He asks for it everytime, so why defend him? It's actually quite entertaining and I quit feeling sorry for him once I realized what a pathetic d-bag he is.

I sincerely hope not. I find the vile personal attacks against me to be quite....entertaining.

Why does his life history make him a pathetic dbag? The vast majority of us, myself included, would be wise to drop out if we have bad grades after 1L or realize law isn't for us.

Hate on him all you want, but don't let the fun with the ad homs deter you from hearing his point.

Nah Romo, you're rewriting his point so it isn't so stupid (and obnoxious). His point is that most of us are going to have huge debt and no legal job after law school, as he says in the OP, not that those of us who find out that law isn't for us or who do very poorly our first year should seriously consider dropping out.

Yes. If this were TTT-Law-Schools.com I might think otherwise.

Consider this: Literally THOUSANDS of T14 2L's and 3L's are stuck with mortgage sized debt and no biglaw offers. If you think this is an exaggeration, check the recent hiring trends for OCI over the past year in the employment forum and NALP website.

I am aware of what the classes of 2009 and 2010 have gone through. I expect it will get somewhat better, but even if it doesn't, not getting a biglaw offer is not the same as having no legal job or way to pay back your loans. There are legal jobs other than biglaw and document review out there, even for people whose first choice was biglaw, and schools have LRAP programs. The situation of the daughter of the girlman in the video you presented is not the situation that most of us will face.

Of course not. You've been groomed for success since childhood...there is no stopping you. All the horror stories of ivy league grads being unable to find work and drowning under a mountain of debt can be attributed to personal failings. Obviously those losers didn't work hard or didn't network enough. You, however, are a different story. You are a unique snowflake who's inexorable rise to the top of the social pyramid is a foregone conclusion. So go ahead my boy...take that $200k and dump it right into the laps of the law schools...they will ensure that your path to society's elite remains unimpeded. Just remember us little people who believed in you when you are eating beluga caviar out of your alden shoes and lighting Cuban cigars from the exhaust pipe of your lamborghini.
