I have the Singer casebook and found the E&E to be very helpful. I did well in the class.kimber1028 wrote:I have the Singer casebook as well, so I checked out Intro to Property. One review on Amazon says that the book doesn't offer anything above and beyond the Singer casebook, so it isn't very valuable. There aren't a lot of reviews, so I don't know how accurate it is, but it made me second-guess spending the $40. I just got Understanding Property instead.DanielCA wrote:Gilbert's is and Emanuel's should be, though Gilbert's will likely be less useful for Singer's casebook as opposed to the one by Krier (and Dukeminier).Bankhead wrote:Is there any supplement keyed to the Singer text?
Also, there is this Property hornbook written by Singer, but I doubt it's very helpful. I got a similar hornbook for Torts that was by Epstein (like my Torts casebook) and it was basically a rehash of all the things in the casebook in a more coherent form. Not sure if there's a lot of value in that, personally.

any updates or over-all consensus on what worked best. I've got DUKEMINIER 7th Edition now, and can't decide between the Understanding Property, and the Gilbert outline written by Krier

I LOVED the "Glannon Guide to Property" by Smith, I also used Understanding Property somewhat but honestly the Glannon Guide is all that is necessary.

I agree, the Glannon guide is all you need and then practice on old exams. This may help with future interests

The Gilbert's property book is incredible. I also used the Understanding Property but I didnt like it as much.

I also have the Singer casebook. What property supplements do you think would be best? I'm thinking about buying either the E&E, Understanding Property, Singer's treatise or Glannon's Guide.

Re: Best Property Supplement?
As others have mentioned, the Gilbert's is actually by Krier now, although it was originally written by someone else. I used Gilbert's for Dukeminier and it was great, but Krier was my professor, so take it as you will. If your test is going to be heavy blackletter and/or multiple choice, Gilbert's is the way to go.annapavlova wrote:My Professor, TA, and about 10 other students who used the Dukeminier text said that getting the Gilbert's that Dukeminier wrote is about the best thing you can do for yourself during your law school career. After flipping through it, it appears that the supp will be particularly helpful for outlining the right stuff. I found one on half.com for about $8, which was sweet.

Re: Best Property Supplement?
Gilbert's for any law book seems to work pretty well. It may not give you as in-depth or nuanced studying as some other supplements but it works really well to hammer down the important points and make sure you see the big picture.
