Got an internship offer today (from the judge whose clerk I ran into at the dentist a week ago). Awesome. Something paid woulda been nice, but now I don't have to stress over getting a summer job anymore. Makes the wait for grades a lot easier.

For Crim law I kept it to SVU. Our prof liked talking about rape too much.

Well, yeah! Technically I only watched SVU and Criminal Intent. No clue when my grades come out, but we'll see what it did for me, hehe.

Nah, I've only heard of one person having their grade back, and he's a 2L. No 1Ls at my school so far.

I've heard we aren't getting ours until the week before second semester. I'm expecting the worst. I just wish it would hurry up and get here.

I think there's a very good chance the school intentionally delays posting them to make it psychologically harder to drop out (since at least two or three dozen people in my class will have such clearly bad grades that they should strongly consider doing so).

Got an email from the school saying that grades were submitted to them and that they will be posted at some point on the 7th. Dammit, this weekend will kill me.

Under no circumstances should you contact a prof about a good grade. In part because it's weird, in part because they probably don't know or care (blind grading spiked with bitter apathy). If the prof cares, they'll reach out to you if you impressed them.

Also, one point of clarification: (assuming a school with a ~3.3 curve) A-s and As aren't that rare, getting them consistently is.

At my school, for example, ~30% of each class gets an A- or better but well under 10% have an ending GPA above 3.70. 10% of every class got an A, but 0-1% got a GPA of 4.0 or better.

The inevitable conclusion is that despite their best efforts, most people get a mix of grades. Some mixes just have a higher average than others.

I'm not so sure that it's harder to drop out- the U (at least the undergrad) doesn't demand final payment until a little later in the semester. So you could probably wait to pay until you see them. Though if you're using loans those would go through before.

I think my t14 school lets you drop out and will refund your semesters tuition at any point before you take your first final, which is nice.

Even if this is the case for some schools, it's a much different situation to be at home with family and friends, with two weeks to decide what to do, as opposed to already moved back to school, classes about to or have started.
