Last grade in. I did alright but had a huge drop off from the fall almost .7 lower but I am fortunate to still be in a good spot. Not happy with my relative performance but things will work out.

I'm aboard the same failboat, hombre. Don't sweat it too much - just be thankful for the first semester safety margin, right?

Seriously. A .7 drop for me, or even like a .3 drop, and I would have considered dropping out.

Yeah the .7 was between semesters and almost .4 cum because our lrw class was yearlong so this semester had more weight.

Our LRW was year-long too (with fall grades being reported as "IP" and thus weighted into spring grades), and in that class I feel lucky I got a B. That was the one I was worried about being participation pwned because I missed two or three participation/"ungraded" assignments, and because I was already at about a tentative B after fall semester. I was worried I'd be middling on my spring brief and be weighted down with the participation grade.

I mostly did as expected (middling to mediocre). There was one class where I figured I either did really well or really poorly. Of course it was the latter.
At least I passed?

where are you guys getting the mean/median 1L GPA for your school? i found some info from NALP re: top X% and associated GPAs. however, that is for graduates and not 1L. thus, is this a good indicator of class rank or not really?

If your school does not rank in any way, you're gonna have a hell of a time. My school doesn't. But look at it this way:

At my school half the people in each class or a few more get a B+, so the median student will have 4 Bs (3.0) and 4 B+s (3.3). So the median is a 3.15 or so. You can go from there somewhat.

Yikes. I didn't have her. No, actually the class I got my worst grade in was one where nothing was given out below a B-. Sadly, I was one of the seven people to get one in a class of 120.

Oh well. Off to be a 2L summer gunner and study test-taking supplements.

It's finally over. Last semseter GPA (on approx 3.0 curve): 3.06. This semester GPA: 3.58. Cumulative GPA: 3.28. Tough year, but at least I redeemed myself a bit in the second semester. According to last semester and other class rankings, I'll probably be just inside the top 1/3rd.

The grade-ons apparently went out today, so I didn't grade on (I'm assuming they accounted for rejections and all that). My only hope now is the write-on. I have a 50/50 shot of writing on. Still pissed. Fuck you, property and crim. It's amazing how much 2 Bs can tank you.

Haha, same, I put my GPA and other indicators into that calculator and it came up with a rank of 17...15 grade on. Come on transfers!
