Re: 2L. No motivation
I retyped 2 pages of someone else's outline today. By far the most effort I have put in to this class all year.

Isn't NU basically "the land of the A-"?traehekat wrote:Nothing out of the ordinary: Spent most of semester trying to get a job instead of focusing on school. Luckily I'm not taking a lot of credits, but the effort I put into this semester compared to last two is not even close and my grades will probably suffer for it. Plus I transferred, so it's not like I have cushion with my GPA.Grizz wrote:Nutshell version of what happened?traehekat wrote:The job search totally ruined this semester for me. Kind of bitter, IMO.

Yea but transfers are insufferable gunners (with a few exceptions like traehekat) who take hard classes and gun insanely hard. If you are in curved classes you gotta be top third to get an A-.

Re: 2L. No motivation
Yeah, I'm hoping ITA lands me a B+/A- as I haven't been a complete POS for that class, but I'm scared to even think about what my seminar grade will turn out to be (despite it being uncurved). For BA I'm just hoping the fact that I will have 9-10 days to study for that class alone will allow me to catch up with everything.
Eh, I guess I should be alright as long as I don't completely mess up ITA/BA since those make up 8/10 credits I'm taking.

30 page paper for a seminar class. Done all the research, have it outlined... Just need to actually write the damn thing. Thankfully I only have 3 exams.

BTW I looked up Shapos grades the last time you mentioned him. He is pretty easy. A lot of A's, but you can still get a B.traehekat wrote:Yeah, I'm hoping ITA lands me a B+/A- as I haven't been a complete POS for that class, but I'm scared to even think about what my seminar grade will turn out to be (despite it being uncurved). Tonight the roomie and I drank wine, listened to Hanson's x-mas cd, ate french fries, talked a ton, looked up hot teachers, took a picture of my cat in a moose hat and... that's about it.

Re: 2L. No motivation
Three finals and a paper due in the next two weeks. Had a great, productive Wednesday. No motivation to do anything Thursday or Friday. I hate the law library b/c all the undergrads gather to talk about chemistry and economics and other bullshit in languages I don't understand and the law students that are there are stressing out. The public library would be great if it was open more than 6 hours a day and I didn't have to see old men looking at foot fetish porn. And I'm virtually incapable of getting work done in my studio apartment. Le sigh.

Is it bad that every time I see there is a new post in this thread I instantly feel a little better about myself?

I ate a whole bag of laffy taffy today. That, and read 4 pages re: clean water act.

i like that developing a buzz and watching football in my apartment qualifies as "getting ready for finals" because i'm not going out.
makes sense
..right?

It's becoming increasingly clear the only thing that was remotely motivating me to work during 1L was OCI because now that it's over I do not have one single fuck to give.

Re: 2L. No motivation
only thing i care about is keeping my scholarship
and if i fuck up badly enough to lose it... then i don't even know.
like i don't even think that give out grades bad enough for that to happen (taking into account the fact that i did read and go to class).

I finally understand why a 3.5 at graduation would put you in the Top 10% at my school.

LOL, I think a 3.5 at grad puts you in like the bottom quarter at mine. I will let you know when I achieve this feat.Gamecubesupreme wrote:I finally understand why a 3.5 at graduation would put you in the Top 10% at my school.

Last year I thought it was a mixture of wanting to get a job and some innate drive to succeed in the things I do no matter how pointless. I have discovered it was solely the former.

Re: 2L. No motivation
It's even worse when they're all open-book. There's absolutely no motivation. I'm taking my outlines off of the SBA's website and hoping I can learn from them in the next week. First exam is on the 12th and haven't started studying yet.c3pO4 wrote:ive actually been trying to study but 5 finals, 3 closed book is just killing my motivation. i think i'm doomed to be no offer grades pwnd.
