Yes, the single factor of "going to law school" favors men over women. There is an arguable bump for men for "dropping the h-bomb" and an arguable strike against women for doing so. If all else were equal, things would favor men. But that's not the only factor. Law school in general is full or nerdy unathletic people. That hurts guys in the dating game more than it hurts girls. Nobody cares if a girl is clumsy or bad at sports or on the shy side. People do care when guys are that way.glewz wrote:worldtraveler wrote:I love how all of these threads are started by boys. In general, I've found that women in law school are on the whole pretty attractive and also have at least decent social skills. The men...not so much. Generally pretty short, nerdy, not very athletic, fairly arrogant, and sometimes painfully awkward. There are obviously exceptions, but it seems like the guys should be more worried about whether a law school girl would want to date them rather than the other way around.Ok. The article claims that men are more successful in marketing their school prestige & intellect than women; in fact, the brand of intelligence tends to hurt women's dating prospects. WT is saying that guys should be worried about whether a LS girl would want to date them, whereas if we take the opinion of the article, LS guys would inherently heighten their dating outlooks. This certainly isn't a direct reply to dating within the law school, but instead suggests that LS men have it better outside of LS.dresden doll wrote:But you have yet to explain them.glewz wrote: mmmm, I can find ways in which it relates.
The burden of worry therefore would be placed on women, whose LS & intellect stamp detracts from their dating in general.
I can attest.rayiner wrote:

Yeah but it doesn't really hurt the individual man in law school. Those guys would have had even worse prospects otherwise. In the oddly worded title it would seem like the op was concerned about the individuals in law school compared to the same individuals in undergrad rather than law students as a group and undergrads as a group.rayiner wrote:Yes, the single factor of "going to law school" favors men over women. This describes a substantial portion of the male population and yet they still get laid.pleasetryagain wrote:Probably because they spend too much time on facebook and xbox (or other forums, uhrmm urhmm), have no social skills as a result, are undereducated/less articulate, are on medications that dull their senses, and watch too much porn which reduces the appeal of the one-girl tradition (I actually read a study on this and this seems to be a major factor).

Bolded is the point of my post and I don't think its retarded. As a former exceptionally shy guy I can say that maybe, just maybe, if they got the fuck off WoW for 3 hours and went to a bar/joined a club/had some fun they'd get over their shyness and see results much quicker.Desert Fox wrote:

Guys are that bad with women usually are just shy. Others are socially awkward by nature. Either by lack of practice, or just their traits.

This makes sense to me as a general summary of law school. What I don't get is why AFAIK and others seemed to say that, despite the fact that I do pretty well for myself currently, when I get to law school I will be SOL. Not to hop back on the nurses thing, but If I can currently successfully compete against doctors in a major metropolitan area...then what is it about going to law school, or specifically law school in chicago, that will affect my individual results?worldtraveler wrote:I love how all of these threads are started by boys. It takes years to get over shyness, and social awkwardness often still remains. I was afraid to talk to girls in high school, and didn't even kiss a girl until college. It probably took me until my junior year to get over my shyness with members of the opposite sex, and I'm still awkward around girls (I'm 28). Being a guy is harder than it looks, and ray nailed the reasons a few posts ago.pleasetryagain wrote:Bolded is the point of my post and I don't think its retarded. You at least have boobs and an appreciation for good beer to help you out. Pretty sure women don't care if men are bad at sports. Both genders like people in shape.
