115.
2nd time taking it. Took it the first time after studying only a few hours and got an 82. This time around, MAYBE studied an extra 2 hours. Who knows.

I don't see why this is so odd. The first time I took it, I thought you get a thing saying "Congratulations, you passed!"waxecstatic wrote:You studied for and took the MPRE, and never bothered to find out what a passing score was? You passed, but if this is a back-handed way of bragging, then that's ridiculous.BlueDiamond wrote:I got an 89.. how do I figure out if I passed? I'm particularly interested in NY and MA
After age 24, I feel like its normal for some people to just take the test and let it do.

Phew. 115. I know people are happy if they get an 86, and kick themselves for anything above that but honestly I'd rather get over 100 than an 84. Congrats to everyone who don't have to retake it in November and good luck to everyone in November.
Btw, haven't taken Prof. Resp. yet and I really didn't find the Barbri video that helpful. It's great for general rules, but I found the August exam tested many of the exceptions. I liked the book better. Meh, to each their own.

Blew it off and got a 79, needed an 80. Obviously regret it and now my bar admission is going to be delayed.
I did file a score verification request because its just one point. Anyone ever hear of this working?

Studied lots, as said earlier ITT. Got a 130. Overkill, but 4 of my buds failed so I do not regret the study time.

I feel dumb failing a common sense exam. Now I am going to lie to my friends because all they do is criticize yet I have higher law school grades than them.

The prob is its not a "common sense exam." The rules are not, IMO, the common sense answer I would pick if I walked in cold. Study them tho and they are easy enough to learn. Its a test about rules thought up by a bunch of suits after Watergate = / = common sense or majority moral viewpoints.Underoath wrote:I feel dumb failing a common sense exam. Well, everyone says it's common sense and quite frankly in that class I was like "this is common sense". Don't comingle funds. My younger siblings would know not to do that. I know it is testing the exceptions which is why I should have studied those more as opposed to just knowing the broad rule, which to me is common sense.Gorki wrote:The prob is its not a "common sense exam." I'm sorry some of you guys didn't pass, I know exactly how you feel as I missed by one point last april. I am so annoyed about the circle jerk surrounding the mpre that says "lol didn't study at all got 150" because that makes people think they don't have to study and then they end up failing. Stop the circle jerking, it needs to end! The mpre isn't the hardest test ever but it does require putting in some time and studying in order to pass!

This is exactly right. I spent like 30 minutes studying and thought I was good. Near the top of my class, LR, etc. - and was too cocky because of it.rawrab wrote:I'm sorry some of you guys didn't pass, I know exactly how you feel as I missed by one point last april. No one to blame but myself for listening to TLS bullshit, but for everyone else who hasn't taken the test yet don't make the same mistake. Not the hardest test ever by any stretch, but there's no acceptable reason to blow it off.

To those who failed the exam, go to this website:
http://www.rongolini.com/mpre/mpreexams.htm
they have plenty of practice exams. If you do at least four of the practice exams, you will pass. Does it require a lot of time and its overkill? Probably, but its a guarantee you will pass. I will gladly take the cost of studying for four to six hours versus the cost of having to take it again. There are only so many questions on ethics they can ask, so the questions get recycled and are duplicated on the actual exam or sometimes contained with slight variations.

I cannot lie, very happy to have passed this thing and can finally put it behind me. I want to wish luck to those who are taking it in November and my advise is STUDY STUDY, the more you can study the better.
I got a 103 but I studied more or less 4 days and did 3 practice exams and read the BARBRI books and also watched both the BARBRI and Kaplan lectures; I will say I think BARBRI is better.
Any supplement you can get will help. As long as you read the rules and the exceptions and you do some practice tests, you will get a decent score. I thought the BARBRI rule book was awesome.
The goal is to pass but don't listen to the people that say you can get a passing score without studying.

Foreign LLM, first-time taker, never took professional resp and I got a 122 after reading the Barbri conviser the day before and morning of the exam, and watching half of the lecture. Didn't do any practice questions but think it helped that I had just taken the NY bar in July. So to anyone taking it in November I recommend reading the conviser and doing practice tests.

Re: LOL MPRE
Ya, I was fooled into a false sense of security by doing well in the legal pro class and then just maybe doing 10 Barbri practice questions before the exam and getting more than half wrong. I was like "oh sh!t" but it was too late as it was the morning of the exam. It's like I didn't study and missed by two points...if I study I will pass just once again FRUSTRATED! Not to mention having to pay again.rawrab wrote:I'm sorry some of you guys didn't pass, I know exactly how you feel as I missed by one point last april. 106, watched the Barbri/Kaplan lectures and did about 120 practice questions. Overkill is always better than failing.

LOL bro it's a scantron. Of course its not going to work. But LOL you were like me. I took the risk of waiting until August right before bar admissions. You'll probably pwn me tho by passing the bar then the joke will be on me.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
