Re: OFFICIAL 1L Exam Prep & Motivation Thread (CSWS)
Bros, practice exams are important. But make sure you know how to write like a lawyer first. Paragraphs, paragraph, paragraph. Headings/subheadings. I don't need to tell you this.swimmer11 wrote:I have not even taken a full length practice exam, except for my crim law mid-term. I think I am going to start that tomorrow with a K practice exam and a torts practice exam. Does anyone have torts practice exams with model answers? There is literally none from any professor at my school.minnbills wrote:I put notes in the margins. I need to put together an outline, I think. I may just do it on the laptop and then fill it in once I start. This is the first PT I've ever taken, so at least I recognize that there's a problem.Jsa725 wrote:do you take notes in the margins / mini outline?minnbills wrote:Just finished torts practice exam.
I have a long way to go.
My organization is atrocious and I need to be way way more succinct.
Good news is that there was no shortage of things to talk about. (we had an abbreviated hypo.) But I would write for a good while about a particular claim and then move on, only to realize later that there was a whole issue (and sometimes several) that I hadn't touched related to that claim.
Eating dinner. 6 more hours to go, team. I fucking love this.

Yeah I need to figure out how to organize. I'm just going to ask my prof what he wants.
How long do you guys think a 4 hour torts exam answer should be?
I typed for about an hour and produced roughly 6-7 pages double spaced.

About to clock in for the evening shift. Eating dinner first and then going to crank some Civ Pro out. I have my legal writing conference tomorrow with my professor so I can put that to bed on Wednesday. I am shooting to have my reading for the semester done by Friday night and then my outlines done by Sunday.
I would still be interested in seeing the Torts Flow Chart if it has been produced yet. I have an Estates (Present / Future Interest) Flow chart I can send for those in need.
CSWS! GRIND!

Is it just me, or is this not painful at all? I kind of enjoy the intense studying.

I absolutely agree. What is wrong with being obsessed with law school? People react like I'm obsessed and stalking a girl or something.Maximized wrote:Same here, brah.brotherdarkness wrote:I'm applying the same mindset I use towards my weight training. I love this pain. I finished Torts a while back but I notice a huge gap in knowledge since I finished. I'm wondering if it's because it's not ingrained in my head as much as it would be if I had class on it. How do you plan to combat this? I'm looking to finish my readings by this weekend as well.Nova wrote:Counted all the reading i have left for the year. Just under 400 pages left. That's what I'm worried about. Ima E&E all the subjects we've yet to hit in my classes (so I can take practice exams now) and still read along with my class.greenchair wrote:I finished Torts a while back but I notice a huge gap in knowledge since I finished. Well, Im done with Con Law, so what I did was OL it for the year based on what I knew, and now i take the OL to class and mark it up while we talk about each topic. I feel like its an advantage (for me, at least) to learn the material from the book, attempt to synthesize it, and then learn it again in class. I actually feel like im "getting" that class better than the others, because i feel like I always know whats coming next.
