Last semester, the month before exams stared, I tried to do 1 a week (basically, rotate a new class every week), and then cram PTs in during the reading period (I actually took no practice exams for Ks and only 2 for Civ Pro). It's more compact this semester with an additional class, so I may mix it up a little, haven't decided yet.PinkLotus wrote:When are y'all planning to take full PTs? Re: OFFICIAL 1L Exam Prep & Motivation Thread (CSWS)
This is what I'm trying to do this semester, since I think last semester I relied too much on the notes I took from reading the casebook and from class. Do you read supplements as you get to the topic in class, or just when you're making your outlines (if that makes any sense)?Bronck wrote:~Top quarter right now.stillwater wrote:hm, interesting. hows it work out for you?Bronck wrote:I skip cases and read the canned briefs / westlaw headnotes.
I do, however, read the notes in the book.
Think of it this way: I never re-open the casebook. I never remember anything from the cases if I do read them. My outlines are supplement + canned brief + notes driven. I usually don't get many useful things out of class. I will, however, jot down particular things that the prof likes, and note any discrepancies with the text.

I leave the supplements for when I make my outlines (1-1.5 months before finals). I don't see any reason to do them contemporaneously with the class, since I'll just forget that info by the time I start outlining anyway. I try to compact the real understanding of the subjects as close (realistically) to the exams as possible.SportsFan wrote: This is what I'm trying to do this semester, since I think last semester I relied too much on the notes I took from reading the casebook and from class. Any other lady CSWS'ers? This thread seems rather bro-heavy...
Over here, Pink Lotus!
And yes, it's a bro-heavy thread, but the energy these guys have is AMAZING. Definitely inspired me last December.

This. Esp for CivPro last semester. The run up to the exam was reading Freer, consolidating my margin notes into an "outline"/"outlines" and reading Freer again. Then I hit critical mass and beastmode.Bronck wrote:I leave the supplements for when I make my outlines (1-1.5 months before finals). For ConLaw, I'm doing Chemerinsky for cases + book notes. It's a little bit different, but we'll see how it works. I think I'll read the connecting sections in Chemerinsky when I start making my outlines so I can develop a more comprehensive understanding of the subject.stillwater wrote:This. The week before finals period, I actually dedicated to re-reading large swaths of the supplements for each class (e.g., 2 days for Ks, 2 days for Torts, etc). It was a nice prelude to going into the PTs, since myoutlines were also finished.
Finals period was 100% PTs + creating an attack outline. It helped me refine my knowledge of the subject and also taught me how to apply the law.

Hey guys, long-time lurker here. Hoping to use your energy to keep myself motivated through this horrible weather/semester. In pretty good shape after the fall, but I've been really dragging my heels to get work done this semester. Still getting all the reading done, stopped briefing early last semester, not feeling ready to outline this early. Keep meaning to incorporate supplements into my reading as I go but haven't quite gotten there. Thanks for all the pep talks

C'mon baby, where would I go?
Oh yeah, library till 11 PM every night. In the beginning of the semester, I felt like this:
But you know what? Find your mistakes, shift the game plan, AND DOMINATE.

That's what I keep trying to convince myself, but I feel like all my classmates are taking lessons from last semester and I am SO uninspired to do more than the minimum. Dude, this thread definitely missed you. I am happy to not know anyone who did nothing and absolutely crushed it. Though I do have a friend with same grades as me who did a lot less (still worked hard I think)... that was not the best news hahaLetsGoLAW wrote:C'mon baby, where would I go?

Infers the subjectivity element of grading. Or perhaps the professors really do throw exams down the stairs.AssumptionRequired wrote:Dude, this thread definitely missed you.
