Re: MPRE November 2016
Just use the Barbri MC questions as a barometer on how much you need to study. I took a 6 hour free review that my school held on the Saturday two weeks before the MPRE, and the day before the MPRE, I worked through about 1/2 of the Barbri MC and determined that I was where I needed to be so I stopped. Didn't really feel too comfortable immediately after taking the MPRE, but I scored about 30 points over where I needed to be so it went well evidently.
Never looked at the Barbri book or online lectures, and was two semesters removed from when I took PR.
I'd recommend that you put in a little more work than you believe is initially necessary. It's an easy test as long as you are familiar with the model rules and can apply them. Many of the questions are counter intuitive IMO, and that's where it helps to have worked through some practice MC questions. Just put in a little extra effort to give yourself room for a comfortable margin of error and get it over with.

If u have enrolled - go to the home page (on the upper right hand corner). There is a link there "Access Now - MPRE" - the videos and lecture handout are there...BmoreOrLess wrote:Does anyone know how to get to the Barbri lectures? I can't figure it out.
I have a question for those who have read through the rules and comments. I think the book is about 250 pages - How long does it take to get through it. I ask because I am a slow ass read and want to see if it would be feasible for me to do. Thanks.

It wasn't bad. I pretty much read the smaller sections and watched videos for the longer sections.Ineedhelpplease wrote:If u have enrolled - go to the home page (on the upper right hand corner). Yes, there are fill in the blank "handouts" in the back of the book and that is what the lecturer is referring to IIRC.crumb cake wrote:I am doing the Barbri video lectures + outline, but I noticed the sections the lecturer references do NOT match up with the outline. (E.g., he says "point 2" or "point c" but they are not located there in the outline at all.) Am I looking at the wrong outline or something?

What prepares you better for the exam: to study from a course book (barbri, themis, kaplan, ect) or from the rules directly?

The former. But if you know nothing about the rules, it'll probably help to look them over and read some of the comments. But studying from the free online courses from Barbri and Themis are far better and more efficient. Do the interactive questions on Themis after going through the lectures and outline. Those questions are very helpful.marmarmv wrote:What prepares you better for the exam: to study from a course book (barbri, themis, kaplan, ect) or from the rules directly?

Passed the November 2015 MPRE with a 110.
Saw someone on page 1 saying they are making flash cards. No, just no.
Get the Barbri book and the lecture. Do the questions in the Barbri book. Two weeks of studying is all you need.

Re: MPRE November 2016
I'm finally starting to study today - hoping I can knock out a bunch of lectures and questions this weekend so that I can relax over Halloween.
Probably doing a mix of Barbri and Themis so that I can decide which bar exam course will fit me better.

I thought the Barbri practice questions were almost exactly like the MPRE questions. Not sure if it's the same for themis.Slytherpuff wrote:I'm finally starting to study today - hoping I can knock out a bunch of lectures and questions this weekend so that I can relax over Halloween.

I totally forgot I signed up for this like 6 months ago and had to cancel all the travel arrangements I made for that weekend
Better make it worth the hassle, I guess.

2, maybe 2 and 1/2 weeks if you want to feel secure and have a higher pass number.SeewhathappensLarry wrote:How much time do we actually need to spend studying? Kind of pathetic my first post is on the damn MPRE

Responses to the MPRE seem to be so variable. I've seen everything from the obvious "brah i didn't study at all and scored 150," to the 2 hours beforehand and did fine, to the "i studied for a month and failed." It's weirdly inconsistent even compared to other standardized tests (in my opinion which is obviously based on a bad sample).rcharter1978 wrote:2, maybe 2 and 1/2 weeks if you want to feel secure and have a higher pass number.SeewhathappensLarry wrote:How much time do we actually need to spend studying? I'm trying to get in a little bit each day from here until test day, we'll see what happens.

Re: MPRE November 2016
Yeah, I'm not entirely sure I trust the "I just looked at the cover of the Barbri book on exam day and passed" people. And a month may actually be too long in advance so you may forget things.Nonconsecutive wrote:Responses to the MPRE seem to be so variable. I know quite a few people who didn't take it seriously and failed the first time. Since I took it after passing the bar exam I didn't want to risk it.
I think your approach is sound and I'm sure you'll do fine. 2 weeks felt good for me.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
