Also, I don't think the grantor of an award is more important than the basis of the award. If Nickelodeon gave you an award for curing cancer, you still cured cancer.
Spot the logical fallacy, go!

(hint: there is a nexus between the grantor of a CALI award and its perceived worth)
I always figured the CALI award was just a nice label to put on your resume instead of "I got the highest grade in a class," which sounds a little douchey.

I knew a personal injury lawyer who framed and hung all of his CALI awards in his office. All of them were for practical skills courses, like trial ad. They impress no one, but he thinks they do. He's kind of a laughing stock. Don't be that guy.

I appreciate the comment, man. You made me realize that hanging up my CALI award would be pretty lame. Thanks for not being a douche about it either. Cheers.

So apparently Weil Gotshal recognizes CALI awards: http://www.weil.com/bamboobaro/
Bambo Obaro received his B.A. in Economics from McMaster University and his J.D. from The University of San Francisco School of Law, where he graduated cum laude, received multiple CALI Excellence for the Future Awards, and served as a moot court case counsel.
But two caveats: He went to Univ. of San Francisco and then he does stuff like this:

So while it may be a line on the resume, telling people about CALI awards seems to lead people spiraling towards a pretentious life, where you are always trying to validate your intelligence, worth, etc.

I stand by my original comment and your initial inclination that it's appropriate to hang them in your office if you're meeting with clients on a regular basis.

In many fields, people get BS awards and put them in their office. This seems normal in business, particularly among boomers. Even among non-boomer lawyers, I noticed quite a few offices with respectable people who put up random awards and certificates (e.g., NITA, National Advocacy Center training), even lawyers who didn't meet with clients.

You're getting a perspective in this thread from law students and lawyers. Those are not necessarily the people you're trying to impress. Regardless, I doubt the average lawyer is going to think less of you if they happen to notice the award on your wall. Just because you hang some awards in your office does not make you "that guy (LinkRemoved)."

It makes you a striver jackass. Stop defending boomers and boomer apologists.

Don't frame and hang it up. But, it is probably worth a line on the resume, particularly if you went to a shitty T2 like I did.

Brilliant!!! Why spend money on paper invitations when one can be even more narcissistic and produce a music video wedding invitation?
