I've also gotten a B- this way.
if you don't mind, what was the difference between the As and the B- with the same approach? Different class styles? Or did the B- exam ask details about a case or something?

I read every single case my 1st semester and feel like it was not at all a productive use of my time, so I haven't been reading many this semester... Hoping it doesn't backfire..

Instead of completely blowing off reading, I will usually consult a good case brief, and then look at the case afterwards in the casebook. I find that I retain everything that I need to retain, and then some, because I'm on the lookout for the key points from the brief. Just my two cents. It still considerably speeds up the reading process.

My best grades (booked classes) were all classes where I read every single case, but ironically - never touched a supplement (including universally suggested ones i..e chemirinsky/glannon). I did less well in classes (round A-s) where I never read and relied totally on supplements, and ironically my worse class was one where I read all the cases + read like 2 supplements. I think it's more correlation not causation though. The classes where I was fascinated by the subject matter and loved reading the cases, probably clicked enough that I never had to touch a supplement. The classes I did not like, the supplements were enough to get me through. And the class I did worse in, I probably just didn't get, which is why I had to go to supplements after reading the cases and still have no idea what's going on.

Depends on how smart you are really. I haven't read a case since first semester and am top 1/3ish of the class (3L in the fall), enough B+'s/few A-'s (one A but it was legal writing) to keep my scholarship so far so it works out. If I was more intellectually gifted I'm sure I could pull off mostly A's w/ the same strategy. (TTT, no clue how it works for ppl in T1's)

Read only half of the textbook for Tax I. Got a class prize (of course I use other's outline).

I'm going to find out.

My best grades came in both where I read cases and didn't read. When I booked or did the equivalent of booking, it's not that I'd spend less time doing work for class but would do what seemed effective. I would normally read law review articles or the like discussing why a case is significant instead of reading the case, and make sure I could apply it to an E&E type fact pattern. The judges aren't gods and I never got the point of thinking that reading their thought process for 30 pages is either necessary or sufficient.

LOL NO

OP, you absolutely can do this. But you have to be 1) smarter than your peers, and 2) extremely gifted in the art of bullshitting.

Finding and reading on point law review articles seems like way more work than reading an edited casebook excerpt.
