We clapped for one who was a military veteran right before Veterans' Day.

this is a shitboomer tradition that was probably started with debt-fueled, unsustainable growth.

Re: Clapping for professors?
We gave our contracts prof. a standing ovation after he gave us a very emotional and heartfelt speech in our last class.

Re: Clapping for professors?
This thread makes me regret not clapping for some professors. I am going to always spread the clap from now on.

I hate when people do it because then you have to go along no matter how you felt about the professor.

No. Clapping and following the trend is beta. Crossing your arms and scowling like a boss (or even booing) is alpha as fuck.Lawquacious wrote:I think clapping is a respect thing. It's customary at this point even if maybe it shouldn't be, so not clapping is beta IMO.

It was too easy, but I appreciated it nonetheless.

The worst prof I ever had bailed immediately at the end of the last class. I admired that he was not waiting for undeserved praise, but still think he is a clown.

I thought in that case the proper protocol was to get up and show the professor the obvious erection in my pants, not clap.InGoodFaith wrote:You're telling me a solid explanation of Coasean economics doesn't get you hard?LeDique wrote:This cannot be serious. End of one of my classes today. People were clapping and the prof just said, "Why do you guys always clap? I get paid to do this."

I think this has been a 2/4 clapping semester. Maybe 3/4.

Clapping costs you nothing. Our 1L year, we bought all our professors gifts. Which seemed a bit crazy at the time because they are getting paid for this.

We clapped for our professor who won professor of the year. I thought that was acceptable since he won an actual award.

I would be fine with it if we had the choice and people actually exercised their choice. I'm still bitter from clapping for a terrible professor last year.rad lulz wrote:kalvano wrote:It's stupid and I hate it.

Re: Clapping for professors?
Last semester one of my classes clapped four separate times for a professor. He started off the last class saying that we shouldn't clap after class because we still had a review session the following week and everyone clapped after the announcement and after class. He started off the review session by saying how strange last week was and everyone clapped after that announcement and after class as well. He was great though. He deserved even more clapping than we gave him.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
