It's not just free textbook shipping. I get everything shipped for free via Prime.

And mine has now lasted for 8 months. They never canceled it.

The student one lasts for a year.

If you're talking about the 1 month free Prime that everybody gets (since you said it's been a year), if you don't cancel it yourself they will automatically charge your account for a 1 year recurring subscription when the month is over.

The student one now only lasts for 6 months - at least according to what mine said yesterday when I suscribed.

but watch the fine print... last year you could do this w/o any obligation to continue using amazon prime once it was over, but this year is different. You don't exactly have to sign up for amazon prime, but they will automatically charge you at the end of the 6 months... so make sure to cancel it if you aren't interested when the time comes.

I signed up for student prime 2 years ago and it lasted until a week ago. And I had access to all of amazon's streaming videos. I just signed up again and it was very weird. I got emails for activating my 1 month free, activating 6 months free, and when I actually signed up, it said 1 year. No clue how long it will actually last this time...

Oh, I had no idea that they changed it.

That is weird... I'm just nervous that they'll start charging my card without any warning.

Must have been a really recent change because I signed up barely a month ago (July 14) and got a year.
